Purpose of the Post / The position encompasses accounting, payroll and administrative responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities / Accounting:
The Accounts/Administration Assistant will:
  • Assist in maintaining the debtors/creditors ledger using Sage 50 Plus accounting software.
  • Coding and posting of purchases invoices on the creditors ledger.
  • Coding and input of sales invoices and cash receipts on debtors ledger.
  • Maintain petty cash and record transactions on Excel spreadsheet.
  • Assist in preparation of nominal ledger journals and entry on accounting system.
  • Assist in the processing of payroll using Sage Micropay Professional Payroll system.
Administrative/Secretarial
The Accounts/Admin Assistant will:
  • To act as the first point of contact to Gheel Autism Services for all callers and respond to all enquiries with courtesy and efficiency.
  • To participate in the ongoing planning and development of the Accounts / Administration Assistant role in order to improve efficiency and quality of the role.
  • To collect, sort and distribute mail each morning.
  • To provide secretarial and administrative support to the Director of Services.
  • To ensure that filing systems are maintained in an efficient manner.
  • To monitor and order stationery, first aid supplies and other office supplies, as necessary.
  • To be responsible for the receipt, examination, storage and issue of goods delivered to the Gheel office building.
  • To manage the service user data base, input data and generate reports in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Eligibility criteria
Qualifications and/or experience / Experience
Essential:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in an accounting environment
Qualifications
Desirable:
  • Accounting Technician (IATI) or Fetac level 5 computerised accounts and payroll qualification

Essential skills, competencies and/or knowledge / Professional Knowledge
Essential:
  • Experience of using Sage 50 Plus Accounting software and Sage Micropay Professional Payroll System.
  • Ability to demonstrate aptitude for using figures.
  • Strong Word and Excel skills.
  • Good organisation and administrative skills.
  • Excellent Attention to detail.

  • Ability to work on own initative
  • In possession of the necessary documentation to work and live in the Republic of Ireland and able to speak and write English fluently
