  1. Ashley Kirzinger informed the TICC that AAPOR Executive Council has approved the waiving the fee for membership in the Transparency Initiative. The TICC will work on updating the educational materials to reflect these changes.
  1. The TICC agreed to have members of the DDI join the committee on their next call to schedule an overview of the project.
  1. The TICC was informed that SurveyMonkey has requested two changes/modifications be made to the disclosure elements to allow an organization such as SurveyMonkey to join. The proposed changes are below. These will be discussed in detail during the August committee meeting.
  1. Tim Triplett discussed a conference call with Google Surveys who considering membership. This would only be the survey division of Google Inc.
  • Item 1: Preceding interviewer or respondent instructions and any preceding questions or instructions that might reasonably be expected to influence responses to the reported results.
  • SurveyMonkey issue 1: We often partner with vendors to provide sample, while we can ask that the respondent instructions or preceding questions be shared we can’t guarantee that they will provide that information.
  • SurveyMonkey issue 2: Similarly, we do purchase questions on omnibus surveys, we can ask the vendor, but can’t guarantee that those organizations will let us know what questions came before ours.
  • Asked edit: Would it be possible to put in language that the organization will agree to request information from subcontractor and provide it if subcontractor discloses?
  • Item 2: If the TI member organization did not collect the survey data themselves, they must agree to request this information from the fieldwork subcontractor so that it is available at the time that they make any public report of the data.
  • SurveyMonkey issue 1: Similar to the item above, we are happy to request this information from subcontractor, but we can’t guarantee that the vendor will disclose the information. If they do not, it would not be available for public report of the data.
  • Asked edit: Could the TICC add in an extra clause that the org will agree to request and provide information if the subcontractor provides it?
