Asset Management Section

Introduction

Greetings. It has been some time since the last newsletter but the Asset Information team has been busy. We have been making network changes in RAMM, sending out database unloads to consultants, performing tests and resolving issues for the implementation of LRMS, and preparing for the next unload of databases to consultants.

The last activity includes traffic, high speed data and maintenance costs.

This newsletter contains some good news.

Welcome Ross Allen!

Welcome to Ross Allen, who started working for Transit as the Asset Information Engineer on 1 March. Ross comes from Bristol, England and worked for WDM Ltd. Ross will manage the engineering aspects of our asset systems. He will be thinking about new assets (such as Intelligent Transportation Systems), as well as managing such things as lookup codes, for existing assets.

High Speed Data

We shall issue the latest high speed data to consultants as part of the next database unload of databases. This is programmed for the 18th to the 29th of April.

Traffic

This year we are updating traffic estimates Region (Regional Council region) by Region for each RAMM database, doing the “easier” regions first. For example in Christchurch Office, the estimates for West Coast will be confirmed before the traffic counts for Canterbury are loaded.

If you are a Transit RAMM Contact, please ensure that the estimates are checked promptly, say within a week of the counts being imported. We shall keep you informed as to when we expect the traffic counts for each region to imported.

Maintenance Costs

Congratulations to Peter Connors and Opus Greymouth for being the first to deliver maintenance activity data for the September to December period. A number of other areas delivered early. Well done!

We have yet to receive data from Northland, PSMC 005 and RAMM2. Please deliver as soon as possible as failure to deliver maintenance cost data will result in the database unload for your area not having a complete dataset for performing decent dTIMS modelling.

Inventory Data

Remember that any inventory updates must be at your Regional Office by 1 April and at National Office by 8 April if they are to be included in the next unload.

RAMM Rating

We had a review before Christmas of the RAMM rating process. We are going to make a few changes for this year’s rating. You will all be issued with instructions shortly, in time for the survey.

Network Changes

Our LRMS Administrator, Philip Blagdon, is now performing network changes.

Transit RAMM Contacts andArea Engineers: Please send Network Update Forms for any network changes in your area to Philip Blagdon at National Office. Philip will put a summary of each network change on the LRMS website (refer below).

LRMS Website

The website lrms.transit.govt.nz is useful if you want to know about the network, network changes, or location referencing. It contains a list of recent network changes, maps of the network, a brochure on signs and the LRMS Manual. Any feedback that you have on how useful this is will be welcome.

RAMM Review

Many of you will know that we are reviewing how we operate RAMM at Transit. Importantly, we are considering the flow of data backwards and forwards between all parties.

We want to move to having everyone working off the same database (no matter which organisation they work for). We are currently trialling this for the Napier Regional Office.

Conclusion
  1. Please ensure that any outstanding inventory data are delivered to National Office by 8 April.
  2. Please check and update traffic estimates promptly once count data have been loaded in your Region.
  3. Regional Offices should now send Network Update forms to Philip Blagdon.

We wish you all a Happy Easter.
