Main Purpose of Post
To ensure the delivery of high quality customer services; by assisting in the control and management of all relevant Leisure Centre employees, processes and practices.
WHEN CARRYING OUT DUTIES TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR:
All employees and members of the public throughout the Leisure Centre; in a way that ensures an efficient, welcoming and safe operation of facilities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1 / The provision and delivery of high quality services, ensuring an excellent standard of customer care from all employees and responding to complaints and queries in a polite and professional manner.
2 / The effective and efficient management of staff; monitoring and addressing cleaning standards, supervision of staff breaks, behaviour and punctuality. Ensuring that all necessary equipment is set up and ready for use on time.
3 / Ensuring safety throughout the building, including in changing rooms, toilets and shower areas, lockers, reception area, sports hall, pool, staircase, viewing and refreshment areas, staff rooms, fitness gym, walls and passage ways.
4 / Presenting yourself, both in appearance and behaviour, in an appropriate and professional manner.
5 / Ensuring facilities are clean and fit for purpose, including external areas i.e. pitches, Skate Park.
6 / Assisting the Leisure Management Team in encouraging and developing effective sales techniques.
7 / Ensuring that all chemicals, cleaning equipment and materials are not left unattended in public areas and that they are returned and correctly stored. This should also include checking and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment and COSHH Data Sheets.
8 / The provision of cleaning rotas, ensuring that all duties and standards are monitored and adhered to, including the safe operation of cleaning/maintenance practices.
9 / Reporting all breakdowns of plant, equipment and any repairs that may be required within the building. This may include undertaking minor repairs, routine maintenance and other general labouring duties.
10 / Regularly inspecting and carrying out routine maintenance of all safety, sports and other equipment. It is essential that you maintain records of all such maintenance and annually assist the line-manager in updating the equipment inventory.
11 / Ensuring that all procedures relating to the receipt, security and submission of monies and goods received are strictly and promptly adhered to and that all returns and records and other statistical information kept are accurate.
12 / Ensuring that the correct procedures are followed in the event of an emergency and the necessary accident/incident reports are completed and accurate.
13 / The treatment, maintenance and regular testing of pool swimming water inline with the recommended health, safety and quality standards set out by the HSE and the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management. This includes the monitoring and replacement of pool chemical stock.
14 / The provision of an effective and well documented monitoring system for all necessary stock. This should include cleaning materials, items for re-sale and other consumable products. An accurate Pro-forma for the above items should be presented to the Assistant/Leisure Centre Manager on a monthly basis.
15 / Undertaking, maintaining training records and assisting with regular training sessions as requested. Ensuring that a variety of subjects are covered in order to aid employees in the delivery of high quality services.
16 / Ensuring staff rotas are produced in a manner that caters for sickness absence and annual leave. Records of annual leave should be maintained and discussed with the Assistant/Leisure Centre Manager where necessary.
17 / Opening and closing of the building and out of hours calls, including the security of building access and keys.
18 / Assist in the induction process for new staff members, processing time sheets, invoices, billing requests and refunds.
19 / Assist in the completion of the Leisure Centre’s Annual Action Plan and attend Leisure Management Team meetings when required.
20 / The positive promotion of the District Council’s services.
21 / Attending and contributing to the relevant Leisure Service employee focus groups, where agreed with the Leisure Management Team.
22 / Carrying out all duties with regard to the District Council’s aims and objectives and performance management targets.
23 / Providing support to other Derbyshire Dales District Council Leisure Centres and/or sites, on reasonable request of the Leisure Management Team.
24 / To carry out all duties with regard to their health and safety implications, crime and disorder implications, data protection implications, and their impact upon the District Council’s equal opportunities and sustainability policies.
