Assalaamualaikum-Wa-Rahmatullahi-Wa-Barakatu

Term 3 has been an eventful one with many activities having taken place. Eid-ul-Adha in Saudi Arabia and South Africa
coincided this year giving us an opportunity to share in the rituals of Hajj as they occurred.
·  Eisteddfod
Our learners excelled at the Benoni Eisteddfod which was spread over two months during this term.
* 41 of our learners achieved Honours and 8 learners received Prestige.
Raeesah Mahomed (Grade 7B) came 2nd in the Grade 7 Prescribed Poetry section, Masha‘Allah on her achievement.

·  The Star “Design an Ad” Competition
Our learners, from Grades 4 to 9 entered the “Design an Ad” competition hosted by the Star Newspaper in conjunction with various sponsors. Participants were given a brief by a company to design an advert for them.
20 000 entries were received by the Star.
One of our learners, Taskeen Kadir (Grade 6B), won 3rd prize for an advert for the Blood Transfusion Service.
A representative from the Star awarded Taskeen her prize at a special assembly. She received a cellphone worth R5000.00, a gift voucher worth R500.00 from Spar and a gift pack of sweets and chocolates. The school also received R5000.00 and the educator received a gift voucher for R200.00, Alhamdulillah.
·  AMS Annual Debate
Our Grade 11 learners, Mus-ab Mateen Kardame, Safwaan Mohamed Ibrahim and Safiya Jhetam came 3rd in the hotly contested inter-school debate hosted by Springs Muslim School.
Our learners excelled in their debating skills and were awarded trophies and book prizes.
·  Springs Soccer Festival: Saturday, 19th September 2015
Our Under 7, 8 and 9 teams participated in a soccer festival on Saturday, 19th September 2015, hosted by Springs Muslim School. Our young soccer stars displayed lots of talent and enthusiasm. Each player received a medal.
·  Soccer Award – Zaahid Hassan
Zaahid Hassan, our Grade 10 learner has been awarded his Eastern Local Football Association Under 15 District Colours. He will now participate in the Inter District, and was selected to represent Easterns on the KZN tour.

·  Readathon
Shukran to all the parents and well-wishers who contributed to Annual Readathon Campaign. All forms must be returned, whether money has been collected or not.

·  ANA (Annual Nation Assessment)
The Annual National Assessment which was to have been written in September has been postponed due to the objections raised by SADTU – The South African Democratic Teachers Union. A new date in December has been set by the Department of Education. Further details will follow.
·  Matric Preliminary Examinations
The matric prelim examinations have been conducted. Now is the final push towards the finals which will begin on 26th October 2015. Learners must identify areas of weakness and spend more time on revision. Support classes will be held during the holidays.
·  Matric Al-Widaa: Thursday, 1st October 2015
A highlight of the Matric learners’ calendar is the Al-Widaa function which is hosted specifically for them. Learners and teachers will be treated to a sumptuous meal and gifts. The guest speaker will be Moulana Yusuf Patel who is the
Treasurer of Jamiat ul Ulema (South Africa), Secretary General of United Ulema Council of South Africa, Chairman of SANHA, the Secretary General of Jamiat ul Ulema Mpumalanga (South Africa) and Executive on the Middleburg Muslim School Board.
·  IPCI Bright Sparks Forum: Saturday, 26th September 2015
Twenty of our best Grades 10 and 11 learners had an opportunity to interact with professionals and celebrities at a function held at Al-Ghazali College.
Learners and their parents were invited to attend the seminar. Keynote speakers were Moulana Bilaal Kathrada, Ms Razia Mahomed, Professor Khadeeja Moloi and Dr Mahmoud Baker.
The aim of the project is to expose these high achievers to successful people and leaders from civil society and government to promote their growth and development.
·  Spellathon
Aaishah Yusuf Docrat (Grade 3B) went through to the final round of the District Spellathon, where she was awarded a certificate for participation, Masha-Allah on her performance.
·  Progress Reports
Foundation Phase Reports will be issued on Thursday, 1st October 2015.
Grades 4 to 12 reports will be issued on Friday, 16th October 2015.
·  School Closure and Dismissal
School will close on Thursday, 1st October 2015 at 12h30 and will re-open on Monday, 12th October 2015.
