Senate Chair Sidney West called the Senate meeting of the 2011-2012 Senate to order at 6:00 P.M. in the Havasupai Room A & B of the University Union.

Motion: Senator Bingham motion to open item A: Approval of Senate Parliamentarian for discussion.
Second: Senator Fosburgh
Discussion: Senator Fosburgh asked Anthony Lake if he could explain his background and why he would be a great Senate Parliamentarian.
Anthony Lake stated that he started club in high school, he is currently in Kappa Kappa Phi and has held the position of Parliamentarian all year. He was the President of various clubs in high school. He stated that he knows Roberts Rules of Order very well and is knowledgeable with working with governing documents and he is a good resource for parliamentary procedure.
Motion: Senator Fosburgh motion to approve item A: Approval of Senate Parliamentarian, Anthony Lake.
Second: Senator Niemann
Vote: 9 pass, PASSED (2 proxy votes)

-We have an ASNAU retreat in August, don’t know exact dates yet, but be looking for an e-mail the week of May 17 because that is when we have our Exec Retreat and will be discussing these dates further. It will be a two day retreat and this is where we will actually have a mock Senate meeting so you all know how it is really suppose to go and of course we will go over the rules and things not to do during Senate Meetings.
