Instructions for updating livestock, poultry and products

Go to > My Profile > Edit

When you update your animal/poultry information please fill in every section that is applicable, even if it seems redundant. Both the print and online Breeders Directories are created from this data. If you have incomplete or incorrect data, then it will not appear in either publication, or it will appear incorrectly.

  • In the “Info” section – Check the boxes in the “Species” section that correspond to the species you have. Make sure that the breeds of each species you have are listed on our 2015 Conservation Priority List (CPL)! We do not track products from animals/poultry that are not on the CPL. For example, we do not track Angus cattle or Icelandic Sheep.
  • In the Livestock/Poultry section – Check the boxes that correspond to the breeds that you have, by species.
  • In the Product Species section – Check the boxes that correspond to the products that you offer from each species. DO NOT select products that you offer from breeds that are not on our CPLif that breed is the only breed of that species that you have. For example, you can list products from the Red Poll cattle but not from the Hereford cattle that you have. Also, if you do breeding crosses, do not list products from those animals.
  • In the Products section – Open the name of each product that you offer and check the boxes with the names of every breed from which you offer that product. This should correspond with the products that you said you had from each breed in the Product Species section and the breeds you have listed in the Livestock/Poultry section.

For example, if you listed that you offer Hatching Eggs from Chickens, and that you have Buckeye and Crevecour chickens, you will need to check the boxes for Buckeye and/or Crevecour in the Product section. However, if you have Buckeye, Crevecour, and Iowa Blue chickens, and you indicated you have hatching eggs from chickens, but you ONLY offer them from the Iowa Blue chickens, then your information is incorrect because Iowa Blue chickens are not listed on our CPL..

We realize that this way of providing information is a bit cumbersome, but we need all the information above to be entered correctly so that what you offer for sale will be useful for the user as well as beneficial to you.
