Asia Pacific Forum
Introduction
The Asia Pacific Forum, formerly known as the Delta Forum, has expanded its scope of interest from Pearl River delta region to Asia Pacific. We welcome participants from the Chinese Mainland, Macau, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and other countries to take part in the Forum.
Asia Pacific has been playing an eminent role in the rapidly developing world in recent years. It is believed that the Asia Pacific region will continue to grow and develop in the near future. The Asia Pacific Forum aims at inspiring young minds by exploring important topics with social, economic and political impacts.
‘Green’ is something that can directly be associated with the environment. “Green Life”, essentially, describes the way we live in the world greenly to protect the environment. There are three main aspects that constitute the backbone of green life – green science, green business and green engineering, with green business be identified as the spindle. Green business means doing business while adopting environmentally-friendly practices in pursue of the preservation of the environment surrounding us. In recent years with the eco-awareness of people all around the world being heightened, green business has been playing an important role in such a flat world.
Objectives
1. To provide opportunities for university students from the Asia Pacific regions to share and exchange culturally, socially and intellectually.
2. To provide students with opportunities to learn more about the Asia Pacific region and important issues in the region.

Date, Time and Venue
Date: 20 July, 2010 – 24 July, 2010
Venue: Lecture Theatres, Classrooms, Off-campus visits
Accommodation: Hall in HKUST
Forum Fee
l HK$1300 per person(including travel insurance and activity expenses)
l Participants are required to pay for their own transportation fee for traveling to and from Hong Kong

Program outline
1) Opening Ceremony
- An opening ceremony will be held to mark the opening of Asia Pacific Forum.
- Guests will be invited to speak and share with forum participants.
2) Presentation and Q & A Session
- About 6 teams with 15 participants in each mixed of different universities.
- A prize will be awarded to the best group and the best presenter for each debate topic.
Format of the presentation:
- 2 teams will present on the same topic, based on the knowledge from previous activities, to compose a business plan.
- Each university will receive their assigned topic and team members’ information in May for preparation.
Q & A Session:
- This session is open to the floor.
- All the participants and the audience may raise questions or challenge the team members.
3) Exhibition
- Participating Universities have to prepare for the exhibition.
- The exhibition boards will be displayed at the concourse.

iii) Should Green Business be legislated?
- The exhibition boards should NOT include any other information not related to the topic.
- The size of the exhibition board is 196cm (L) X 139cm(W)
- A prize will be awarded to the best exhibition board display.
4) Firm visits
- Visits to firms and enterprises in Hong Kong
5) Sharing sessions, camp fire and game sessions
- Camp fire, game sessions and sharing sessions will be arranged for participants to meet and share with each other.
6) Talks and Seminars
- Guest speakers will be invited to give talks on related issues of economy and environment of different sectors of the region and China as a whole and the relationship between them.
- Participants can know more about the past, current and future developments and its effects on different sectors in the region.
