AsherFFA Wins State FFA Animal Science Quiz Bowl Career Development Event

STILLWATER, Okla. — Members of the AsherFFA Chapter won first place in the State FFA animal science quiz bowl career development event at the 2018Oklahoma FFA Career Development Events at Oklahoma State University April 28.

Members of the team areAmanda Stanley, Macy Phillips, Jordan Odell, Isabella Brooks and Terah Garcia.This team will represent Oklahoma in the Animal Science Quiz Bowl Career Development Event at the National FFA Convention in October.

TheAsheragricultural education instructor and FFA adviser isRicky Thompson.

In this event, teams of four FFA members work together to answer questions from the animal science curriculum. Topics include the overall livestock industry, feeding and nutrition, animal breeding and genetics, and traditional and non-traditional animal enterprises.

The OSU College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the Department of Animal Science hosted the contest.McDonald’s of Oklahoma sponsored the contest at the state level.

FFA is an integral part of the Agricultural Education division in the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education system.
