Dear Parents, Players & Members

Welcome to the 2017/2018 Season - On behalf of the Mini’s, Junior & Girls Committee I trust that you have all had an enjoyable summer break and that you are all fit and ready for the forthcoming 14thseason!

New for 17/18 – The club continues to develop this year with the additional of Flood Lights on the new pitch which will make a big improvement to midweek training options.

Fixtures - The fixtures for the season are being arranged and for further details please log onto the club’s website. Our thanks must be extended to Steve Dale for the Mini’s and Vincent O’ Regan for the Juniors for all of their time in planning and arranging the fixtures.

Summer School – Over the summer holidays we ran another summer camp for both members and non members. In total 60 players attended with the morning used for rugby skills training and the afternoons filled with an assortment of games. Well done to all those who attended and a big thank you to all the coaches and volunteers who helped.

October Half-Term School – Details to follow

Summer School 2018 – Dates to be arranged

RFU Continu-um – There are changes to the Laws of the Game forJunior age groups and the Academy players see your coaches for an update.

Sponsors – We are always looking for sponsors of Match shirts /Training tops for each of our age groups and the benefits/advertising received will vary depending upon the level of sponsorship. For the amount of £875 + VAT an age groups shirts could have your company name/logo emblazoned on them: If you are interested in this or any other aspect such as advertising /pitch-side boards then please contact me on

Website - Please note that first time users will need to register before they can fully access the site. We constantly aim to have the majority of general information and communication sent out this way, so please ensure that you are registered and if you are then please check the website regularly……especially during inclement weather.

Kit Supplies – The kit shop may not always be open every week but dates will be published and it is run by Jane Gadsby.

Touch Rugby – is still proving to be very popular & suitable for ladies and gents of all ages so come down on a Monday evening between 7-8pm. We are an O2 Centre for Excellence and well worth a trial session…...

Club Committee Vacancies & Volunteers – Currently we have a vacancy for a Kit & Equipment Manager having filled other vacant roles but as a mini juniors section we constantly need the support of our volunteers to help in differnet areas. Without your time and help the club will struggle to continue to improve and expand. There are many areas that you could help with and where applicable we will arrange for a DBS disclosure check, first aid training & various coaching courses. We are in need for every parent to help on a rota basis during the course of the season in the kitchenwhen it is their age groups turn. We all want to watch our children but the duty rota is only approximately 4 times per seasonper group so it may only be your turn once for 2 hours if everyone helps…!! If you can offer help we will accept it! Please see Jane, Tam or Ian for more information….

Academy training for U16 – U18 will continue to take place on Thursday evenings aimed at improving skills & fitness for all players within the age groups above. Contact Dave Berrowfor more details:

Finally I would like to thank you all for your help during last season in whatever capacity – Ashby is a club that is going places and that is through the children, the support from you all as parents and the work of the coaches and all the volunteers that are continually moving us forward!

We are a friendly family focussed club and let’s keep it that way…. Here’s to a safe and successful 2017-2018 season – let’s make this 14th season the most successful yet!

Yours in Rugby

Tam
