The conference is convened with the aim of launching the "Mapping of Asian Collections" project, which would result in the development of an index of public Asian collections in Asia and Europe. Various mapping initiatives conducted at national or regional level will be presented. Which are methodologies for data mobilisationwithin curatorial projects? What are the added value, opportunities and/or difficulties to be overcome with such projects?

By consolidating institutions as a coherent grouping with common features and interests, formal networks such as ASEMUS are crucial in creating access and engagements between institutions and associated individuals. As museums work within an ecology of other networks, as well as with independent cultural experts, developing a dynamic mapping that facilitates and sustains engagements along multiple, institutional and individual, formal and informal levels would enhance opportunities and perspectives. What platforms can be developed? Within such platforms, how do we establish and sustain a fluidity of participation, dialogue and initiatives involving those mentioned? How may activities and projects proposed, considered and undertaken by ASEMUS be enriched?
