The Croydon Learning Disability Commissioning Team working in partnership with Crystal PalaceFootballClub Foundation are pleased to announce that there will be a new Walking Footballevent on Monday 5th September, 12.30-2.30pm at Waddon Leisure Centre, Purley Way, Croydon CR0 4RG.
So what is walking football? Well, it’s football where, instead of running all over the pitch, you walk. It’s becoming more popular because there are lots of people who love playing football, but for different reasons, they find it difficult to run. So if you find running difficult and like to move at a slower pace, then this is the game for you. There is still tackling, passing and scoring great goals, but just no running. (Some people may forget and run for a bit, but that’s ok and they’ll be gently reminded that walking is the name of the game...)
At the launch event, the wonderful, friendly and trained Crystal Palace Football Club Foundation coaches will show everyone how to play the game and everyone will have a great time playing the beautiful game...
As well as having fun, others good things about walking football are that you could::
- Get fit and healthy
- Lose weight, lower your blood pressure and be able to move around easier
- Learn new football skills
- Make new friends
The walking football is open to everyone: men and women from the age of 16 and up and anyone who likes football. Even if you only want to kick the ball once or twice or if you just want to come and watch to see what you think, you will be jolly welcome This is football for all...
Please wear training shoes and comfortable sports clothes.
After this ‘launch’ event, we intend to run weekly walking football sessions at Waddon Leisure Centre so you can keep enjoying the game and hopefully play it every week. The regular weekly sessions will run from Monday 12th September to the end of October from 1.30pm - 2.30pm.
So, to help us prepare for the day, if you would like to come along on 5th September, please fill in the attached Registration Form and send it to me, Andrew Slegg, at the address on the bottom of the form.
Please tell your friends, family and colleagues. Everybody is welcome to come along and the event is FREE... (but no food provided).
