As a Brief Summary, at the Meeting Linda Introduced Her Project on the Troubadours, Trouveres

Dear all,

many thanks again to all those who came to the project meeting on Wednesday. I have updated the 'mailing list' with the email addresses of those who expressed an interest but who couldn't come to the meeting as well.

As a brief summary, at the meeting Linda introduced her project on the Troubadours, Trouveres, and the Crusades and showed us the website/database that is being built as part of the project: (email Linda if you don't have the password). We also introduced some medieval crusade songs and discussed ideas of how we could explore some of the songs practically.

The two aims that I have in mind for this project are to produce a performance of medieval crusade songs in the 2nd term (2014) and to record some of these songs at the studio in the Warwick Arts Centre, which will be put onto Linda's project website and potentially made available online elsewhere. Any ideas of how these aims can be enhanced are very welcome.

I have created a blog for the project: which should be viewable by the public. At the moment only Linda and I can post messages but anyone can comment on the posts (at least this is how I think it works!). This will be the primary means of updating people about the peoject so please do bookmark the page and check it regularly. I don't intend on bugging you with emails every week, although you are welcome to email me with questions, advice or ideas!

Finally, as we have had interest from undergraduates, post-graduates, staff and the public, it will be difficult to organise group meetings for everyone at the same time. I am going to get in touch with the Music Centre to ask about booking the ensemble room as a practice space, so that small groups of us can gather. It would be useful if everyone could fill in this very quick survey of when you are potentially free to meet: This is just so that I don't organise any meetings on days when no one is available and doesn't mean that you are signing up for anything in particular.

There will be more updates to follow on the blog. Please do pass this email on to anyone else who might be interested. Thanks for taking the time to read.

All the best,

Liam Lewis
