Arup Kumar Biswas, being a geologist in profession,has gathered more than eight (8) years of experience with national and international organizations with a focus on exploration and development of natural resources; manage, co‐ordinate and monitor geological evaluations and operations;

Having worked within the mineral resources industry for over 7 years with an Australian company Premier Group Minerals ( he has had manifold exploratory ventures relating to geotechnical services, development and extraction operations, Geodatabase server management, subsurface geological modelling, 3D simulation, mapping and assessing the prospects.
Mr. Arup has got his Bachelor and Masters in Geology from University of Dhaka plus over eight (8) years of relevant work experience, some of which are pretty intense as in 2011 when he was invited to Australia to Interpret geological information from a variety of sources including RC and diamond drilling and geological mapping on PMPL owned tenements for gold mining at Chillagoe,QLD whilehe refined some of the previous geological models.

Mr. Arup’s professional experience can be divided into 3 phases. Throughout this period, he has been involved in field sampling and laboratory experiments in geophysical exploration, hydrogeology, environmental research and remediation projects.

1)From mid-2005 till mid-2007, involved in different projects inthe field of Geophysics (Sub-surface Resistivity surveys of VES, CST and Shallow seismic surveys), and in Hydrogeological Researches for delineating As-free water resources in different parts of Bangladesh. Throughout his career he has collected a lot of groundwater and soil samples for different types of analyses. He has helped in the development of a network of community wells to provide arsenic safe drinking water for the people of AraihazarUpazila in Bangladesh.

2)From late 2007 to mid-2014, being a Geologist of Premier Minerals Limited, an Australian company working for developing mineral resources prospect in Bangladesh, he performed the following noteworthy tasks:

a)Carry out logging of the drill holes, collect samples, analyze those in the laboratory and delineation and estimation of the prospect.

b)Mapping project areas usingArcGISandMapInfo; 3D pre-mine simulation usingMicromine; Prediction modelling by the spatial analysis and resource volumetrics which facilitates the economic evaluation what eventually helps to delineate the mine feasibility; process and simulate subsurface geological data to determine the preliminary reserve estimation usingRockworks.

c)He was invited to Australia to volunteer for exploring new areas of zircon & Rutile potentiality and justify existing data of Au, Ag, Bi, Mo, Sb, Zn, Cu on site within PMPL owned mining tenements at Chillagoe,QLD in 2011. He successfully accomplished the gold mine 3D modelling for the wandoo reserve.

3)From late 2014 to mid-2016, he has involved himself as a Junior Specialist in Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Division (PEMRD) of Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), which is Government owned scientifically independent centre of excellence under the Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR). During his tenure from 10December 2014 to 24May, 2016, he was deeply involved in study implementation and monitoring regarding environmental assessment related to Power generation in Bangladesh. He was also involved in preparing project summaries and many other Intellectual activities like technical report preparation and evaluation in power and energy resources sector. Furthermore, he was involved in a good number of Initial Environmental Evaluation (lEE) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies. Some of these pioneer studies included EIA of the biggest Coal based thermal Power Plant at Rampal, Bagerhat. He has led the monitoring study, for over half a year, conducted by multi-disciplinary specialists.

Throughout his career, he gathered professional experience in Geo-information Science & Earth Observation related to environment, land management, spatial and relational database design-development-management, analysis, monitoring and planning.

Within the span, he has mastered himself ina number of software programs and techniques. Those skills have helped him contribute to some great work, but the best part of the experience, for him, is collaborating with a team to build something that the organization can effectively combine with the business interest.
