Woman, a Masterpiece of God

As we remember Mothers on their special day Sunday, May 12th – I wanted to speak to the blessing of being a woman of God to many of you lovely women who may have forgotten, or may have never been told that God made you in an amazing and special way. God created women with amazing attributes. A woman can be tough as nail when needed – patching up a wounded child while lovingly assuring them the whole time it will all be o.k. There is nothing tougher than a mother who feels her child is being harmed or wronged in some way. Ask any school Principal who has encountered more than their share of protective Mothers.

A woman can cry when she is sad, and cry when she is happy. This can sometimes be unnerving to the male species, but it is the way God made us. I want to share the thoughts of an unknown author who wrote, “Why God Gave Women Tears.”

“When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world; yet, gentle enough to give comfort. I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that manytimes comes from her children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly. I gave her strength to carry her man through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good man never hurts his woman, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly. And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed. You see, the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart – the place where love resides.”

It took me a long time to feel comfortable with the person that God created me to be. I believe that is because I was always trying to do things on my own strength. As I studied the Bible I came to learn that God has created me and every woman to become women of God. First, He wants me to acknowledge that I have been made to love God with all my heart, all my mind, all my soul and all my strength. The strength that I hold in my heart for my Lord, my children, my husband, and for my family comes from the strength and dignity of Jesus Christ in my life. Proverbs 31: 25 tells me, “Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future.” Because of Jesus I put on the strength and dignity of being a woman of God everyday before I go out into the world. Because Jesus has conquered death and sin in this world, I can stand in strength and security because Jesus is the foundation in my life, steadying me through the storms that come into all of our lives. I can look to the future with Hope because Jesus has secured eternity for me. I am so glad to be a woman of God and I pray that every woman who reads this will find her value and uniqueness by seeking the One who made you. The good news of the Gospel is that you are a righteous and virtuous woman because of Jesus. Thank you to my Mother who taught me so much about Jesus in the way she lived her life before me.
