Application Type / Section 5
Decision / Refuse Exemption Certificate
Decision Date / 12-Sep-2011
Applicant / Linda Daniels
Location / 26, Rutland Street Lower, Off Sean McDermott Street, Dublin 1
Proposal / EXPP - The proposed structure would comprise of hardened glass and a wooden frame, in keeping with the new wooden sash windows of the house. The glass supported on a wooden frame, will have one of its three panels opening fully upwards as a means of fire escape. This panel is closest to the existing basement window, the window sill would provide a natural foothold to allow escape. The room which the yard is adjacent to, has its own fire escape, as it is directly in contact through a hall to the back door. The front yard is accessed through a door under the front step (entrance) of the house. The reason for the proposed structure is a means of security. As it currently stands someone could easily hop into the yard and take their time to break into door unnoticed. The enclosed area will not be used as a garden or entertaining space. Its function will remain the same. The yard did have a small front porch in it (covering about a third of the yard), this is currently removed. The specification of the product which would be purchased is in attached Callaghan quote.
