Introduction

You are required to create a website with a theme which is “Your favourite Sport Team/celebrity”. Students are to design a web site that will allow them to imagine and create aspects of their future world.

There are two components to this assessment task; the website and a design folio page which is linked to the website.

The design folio web page

This is the web page in which you will record all information used in the design and production and evaluation of your web site, it is to be linked to your website home page.

The following must be included in your folio web page;

The design phase;

§  Identify the target audience, key features of the webpage and the brainstorming processes behind these decisions

§  Describe and justify your use of features such as; white space, animations, drop down menus, font type and size, links etc.

§  Research and data gathering. The webpage must be your own work. Details of information sources (including images and sound files) used, are to be recorded.

§  References – You must list all websites accessed in researching your website and all other sources of information.

eg. Overall website structure - http://www.bohemia.com.au/ online, accessed 7/6/05.

or Images of futuristic buildings – Design magazine, April 2004.

§  A site plan that contains linked pages and how they are linked that you are going to use in your website.

§  Time Management – Some sort of time plan (showing the tasks and the time taken to complete them) or preferably a Gantt Chart should be used to plan your time.

The Production Phase

Note: Use only software available at Arthur Phillip High School

While you are in the process of creating you web site you must record your progress and any changes in the web site or how you are producing it in your folio page.

Your web site must contain or do the following;

§  an additional “about the project” design folio web page linked to the home page.

§  be appropriate for the intended audience

§  provide easy navigation and allow visitors easy access to the information in the site

§  use appropriate multimedia elements

§  have no missing elements or dead links

§  be fast to download

§  have relevant content consistent with your topic

§  You must manage the time you have been allocated efficiently and record work done showing times and dates

§  You will also be marked on imagination, innovative thinking, and creativity for your website.

§  Marks will also be awarded for your technical ability.

The Evaluation Phase

This involves evaluating the finished website and the way in which the work was done.

§  Clear conclusion noting degree to which your project was successful and how this is justified.

NOTE: There is to be no obscene, racist, sexist, offensive or inappropriate content either the web pages or any links. If this occurs a zero mark will be awarded and disciplinary action will be taken.
