Artexpo New York, the World’s Largest Fine Art Trade Show,

Announces 2017Sales, Attendance, Show Highlights

-Four-day fine art experience drew thousands of attendees and producedseveral million in sales-

NEW YORK (May 12, 2017) – Artexpo New York, the iconic art show, announces record attendance and robust sales from its 39th annual show, which took place April 21–24, 2017, at Pier 94. The four-day art show welcomed more than 32,000 attendees, including more than 4,000 during the Opening Night Preview Party. Artexpo New York featured the works of more than 400 exhibitors,showcasing thousands of artists from more than 40 countries. The showresulted in several million dollars in sales; many artists and galleries are still finalizing pending sales, commissions, and placements.

“Once again, Artexpo New York hosted thousands of art aficionados, giving established and emerging artists the chance to get in front of the right people and also introducing them to our signature programming,” said Eric Smith, president and CEO of Redwood Media Group. “This year was another incredible success, and we can’t wait to plan our 40thanniversary show next year.”

Artexpo 2017 included three shows under one roof: Artexpo New York, the world’s largest fine art trade show; [SOLO], highlighting established and emerging independent artists; and [FOTO SOLO], featuring fine art photography from some of the world’s finest abstract, contemporary, and realist photographers.Attendees had the chance to browse thousands of innovative new works of art and enjoyeducation seminars, cocktail parties, live entertainment, and other special events.Artexpo also featured the Topics & Trends Education Program—four days of complimentary seminars and conference classes offering expert perspectives on subjects ranging from art and the economy, small business management, and art marketing to social media for artists, design and decor trends, and more.

Additional 2017Show Highlights:

  • Spotlight Artists included Paul Brandejs (Toronto), Dwight Baird (Montreal), Vlad Korol (Paris), Junaid Sénéchal-Senekal (Knysha, Garden Route, South Africa), and Diane Fontaine (Gatineau, Quebec).
  • Worlds Unite by Juan Luis Perez was the 2017 Poster Challenge winner. The Poster Challenge theme was "Harmony," and the contest garnered more than 400 entries.
  • The Art Lab Program showcased the South African Art Collective and the [PLATFORM] Artist of the Year Awards.
  • Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) presented a special exhibition, ACJ Nimbus, from internationally renowned artistBerndnautSmilde and fine art photographer RJ Muna.
  • Maison Louis Jadot was the platinum sponsor of the show and the exclusive wine sponsor.
  • The Topics & Trends Education Program included presentations by industry experts, including:

Notable Exhibitor Sales:

Hundreds of artists and galleries displayed their work at Artexpo New York, and many came away with valuable new contacts and lucrative deals. Here is a sample of the sales, commissions, and placements from this year’s show:

  • Art Design Consultantssold 50 pieces of Ken Rausch’s beautiful metal wall sculptures in the first hour of the show openingand boasted multiple sales and commissions for other artists taken throughout the show
  • Jeffrey Bisaillon ofJBIS Contemporary Fine Artsold six originals, including Dom for $14,000;No. 5for $6,000;Manolo;Black Converse; and three others.
  • Samir Sammoun ofSammoun Fine Artsold October Central Park and Central Park Spring as a pair for $50,000; Walking with Giants for $5,000; and four others.
  • LaunchPad Artist Madeleine Anne Cohen had a great first showing and sold three pieces ranging in price from $900 to $3,200.
  • Mattson’s Fine Art sold three blown glass sculptures by Alexis Silk, ranging from $2,000 to $7,850 in addition to several other artists’ works.
  • Cesar Lora Fine Art did very well with both retail and trade buyers, opening new gallery accounts and selling multiple pieces by artists Tarkey, Ferjo, and Kardos each day of the show.
  • Aesthetic Art Associatesfeaturing Efran Ilan sold multiple pieces from her Celebrity Portraits Collection, which includes Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, supermodel Bar Refaeli, musician Elton John, and Hollywood icons Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor.
  • South African Art Collective was pleased to feature and sell several of their artists’ works, including Eric Manganye, Ephia Mmbidi, and Pauline Mazibuko.
  • Tennis pro and established artist Walter Redondo of Walter Redondo Fine Art sold The Tribe painting for $6,250, along with several others.
  • Hans PetersenArt and Lisa Ashinoffboth had an exciting show, selling several of their distinctivecontemporarypieces.
  • Progressive Fine Art was busy throughout the show, selling David Thai’s beautiful glass sculptures and vessels ranging in price from $2,500 to $5,000 as well as artwork from Hallman, Braul, Keimova, Pasegic, and others.
  • Exhibitor sales were steady throughout the show forArtblend, Shinn Fine Art, Mecenavie Gallery, Ronen Art Vision, Christybomb, Essence Arts, Vandergraaff Gearheardt, HStudio by Shlomi Haziza, MJ Laberge, Artsynergism by Garsot and Helen Kagan, and so many others.
