Week 1,2 / Painting with Primary and Secondary Colors - Color Theory
6P.10.1 The student will identify paint media (tempera, watercolor, acrylic, and oil).
The student can:
-learn about Perspective in Landscape
-learn how to use Tempera Paint
-learn how to mix paint and be original in their color choice.

EXPLORE! / CREATE A PARODY OF WOOT’S FAMOUS PAINTING “AMERICAN GOTHIC”
7H.1.4 The student will identify styles and themes in contemporary and historical works of art. (SOL 7.16)
The student can:
-learn about Grant Wood and his famous painting ‘American Gothic”
-learn what is parody
-learn how to use oil pastels
-learn how to write an Artist Statement / OP ART
8P.3.1 The student will recognize, explore, and create a work of art demonstrating the use of lines to show depth through various media, techniques, and processes.
The student can:
-recognize Op art
-use aerial perspective to create the illusion of depth in a two-dimensional drawing
Week 2.3 / COLLAGE/MIXED MEDIA-Aboriginal Art
6P.12.1 The student will recognize, explore, and create a two or three-dimensional collage/mixed media combining various media, techniques, and processes.
The student can:
-recognize Aboriginal Art
-learn what is collage
-learn how to apply a range of skills and techniques including dots, lines, different weights and colors to - create their own Aboriginal Art. / Monochromatic Painting
7P.2.1 The student will recognize, explore, and create a work of art demonstrating the use of color value by adding black and white
The student can:
-recognize Abstract Art
-learn what is Monochromatic Painting
-use tints and shades with Tempera Paint. / OP Art Hands
8P.4.1 The student will recognize, explore, and create shapes (natural/organic, and free-form) through various media, techniques, and processes.
The student can:
-use pattern with value
- create an illusion of depth with shading.
We will have class discussion about the science behind the illusions. -Why do some designs hurt our eyes and others trick our eyes?
