Art Contest Call for Entries

Robert Storr is curator for the upcoming 2007 Venice Biennale and a curator at the Museum of Modern Art.

Your Eligibility

Open to all artists worldwide with original artwork in all creative processes and forms.

Awards

First place winner will be given a solo exhibition at the TRIBES Gallery to open our Fall 2006 exhibition schedule. Robert Storr's name will be used in all promotional and press materials.

Second and third place winners will be given a two person exhibition at TRIBES Gallery. Robert Storr's name will be used in all promotional and press materials.

Please note that all others will be considered for future exhibitions at TRIBES Gallery not associated with this contest.

Entry Fee

A fee of $35US must accompany up to five slides or jpegs; $5 for each additional slide. No maximum. Checks or Money Orders or for artists outside the U.S. send an International POSTAL Money Orders in U.S. dollars payable to A Gathering of the Tribes. Western Union or cash (where possible) may also be used. Do not send cash through the mail.

Slides/Jpeg/CD/DVD Entry

Slides must be 35 mm, 2 inches x 2 inches, non-glass. No thick slides. Entries must be clearly marked with the artist's name, title of work, medium, dimensions (HxWxD), and number as listed on slide list. Please indicate the top and front of the slide. Two additional slides of a single 3-D work may be sent at no extra charge. For greater chance of selection, please be sure that the slides are of professional quality, without dust or scratches.

Jpegs may be sent via CD. If work is submitted on CD, send as jpeg files saved as: Last Name of Artist-Abbreviated Title.jpeg, for example: Jones-Beauty.jpeg. Please list all included works on or in the CD case with number as on the hard copy entry form, artist's name, title of work, media, year and dimensions.

Video art must be sent via DVD. Please clearly mark DVD and list work included on disk including running time.

Send a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of your materials, self-addressed stamped post card for notification that we received your application, slides or CD, check or money order, résumé, artist statement and completed hard copy application form to TRIBES Gallery.

Note - Slides may be retained in our archives and considered for future invitationals or returned to the artist.

Liability Terms

TRIBES Gallery will take the utmost care with your artwork. Once selected for exhibition artists will be expected to sign a consignment agreement.

Submitting an entry to this competition constitutes an agreement with all conditions. TRIBES Gallery assumes the right to photograph an accepted work or use your photographs of the work for promotional purposes.

Postage for the delivery of artwork to and from the gallery is the responsibility of the artist.

Sales Promotions

Your work may be represented online. This approach will add your work to a vast collection of easily searchable artwork, as our web site is listed with numerous internet search engines.

Tribes Gallery is committed to the promotion of emerging artists and the sale of their artwork. Gallery will take a 30% commission on sales directly attributed to the exhibition and/or online exhibition. Artists whose works sell via the gallery will be asked to provide an estimated shipping charge to be paid by the patron.
