ARMAGH’S 7 HILLS BLUES FEST 2012

Blues fans get ready, the City of Armagh is preparing for the second 7 Hills Blues Festival from 9-12 August 2012. Over 30 free gigs will fill the city with the sounds of brilliant blues bands an exciting date in the Blues music calendar not to be missed.

From Chicago Rhythm, Country Slide and Roots to Rock ‘n’ Blues, Boogie Woogie and Funk Style - Some of the finest Blues bands around have been confirmed ensuring that festival goers are in for a real treat including Sinner Boy, Pat McManus, Grainne Duffy, Mirenda Rosenberg to name a few!

There are many new events in the 2012 Festival and just to give you a taster for what is coming up this year….Opening the Festival is a special Rory Gallagher Tribute Evening with an exhibition featuring Sinner Boy. Tickets are available now from Market Place Theatre on 028 37521821.

Armagh restaurants and cafes are also getting into the spirit celebrating the food, culture and music that encompass the real southern rhythm and blues experience in award winning restaurants and stylish cafes! Enjoy live music by some of the finest blues bands and fresh tasty food from local vendors along the Tasty Trail!

Pack a picnic and your family, put on your favourite fancy dress and join us for a fun filled blues family picnic taking place in the impressive grounds of the Franciscan Friary. Bring the ruins to life with a feast of foot tappin' live music and children’s entertainment.

New for 2012, come and join in the fun as the blues come to the Shambles with Sunday Summer Blues Family Fun and Music Event from 2.00pm. There will be something for everyone with music, live entertainment, activities, games and stalls.

A number of workshops will be held in the City Centre for children and teenagers. Got an important gig/audition coming up?Have a brilliant voice but absolutely no stage presence?Need to improve your live show?Then Live Performance Coaching workshop is just what you need; connect to your audience and deliver a striking performance! For children a Bluez 4 Kidz workshop taking place in the Market Place Theatre; a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in a live Blues Band - with limited spaces available.

There are also a number of attractive fringe eventsplanned including Art on the Rails, Urban Art in the City, Workshops, Music in Armagh City centre.
