Welcome to the Arkansas Out-of-School Time Credential Online Pilot, formerly known as the School Age Credential, sponsored by ASU Childhood Services and supported by the Arkansas Out of School Network.

Over the next several months you will be reading, thinking, trying out new ideas, and “talking” (on your computer) to other people who are taking these courses at the same time you are. The best way to learn about taking an online course is to jump in and play around with all the things that online learning has to offer!

Course Information

The Arkansas Out of School Time Credential Online Pilot is designed for staff who work with youth kindergarten through twelve years of age. The complete Credential consists of thirty six certificate courses.

This course meets theIntermediate 1 requirement for (TAPP) Traveling Arkansas Professional Pathways.

Four clock hours will be awarded through the Traveling Arkansas Professional Pathways Registry for each course completed. A TAPP ID number is a requirement.

Upon completion of the coursework, you will be eligible forContinuing Education Units(CEUs) through Arkansas State University.

Successful Online Students

The Arkansas Out of School Time Credential Online Pilot is a unique eLearning experience! You will be able to work at your own pace and at times that are convenient to you. However, there are timelines and deadlines that you must meet. Before you register, be sure you will be able to commit the time to complete assignments in these courses.

Expectations of Online Students

  1. You will be expected to log in to the course 2-3 times per week. You will have about eight weeks to complete four courses within the Credential.
  2. To participate in online activities, you should be able to communicate effectively in writing. Although you are not evaluated on your spelling or grammar, others must be able to understand what you have written.
  3. To be successful in this coursework, you must be independent and a self-motivated learner, and able to meet deadlines for assignments.

Technology Requirements for Online Students

  1. You will need regular access to a computer with a reliable internet connection.
  2. You will need an active e-mail account that you check regularly. The course instructor will communicate with you through e-mail at times.
  3. You must have an individual e-mail address in order to register for this course. Please do not use an e-mail address that is shared with others at your facility.
  4. You should have basic skills in using the Internet, email and word processing. Can you send and receive email messages with attachments, open and save documents, and use Internet addresses to locate specific websites? The course technology will be easier if you have these basic skills.
  5. The Collaborative Learning Environment® requires a modern web browser to display courses correctly. We support Internet Explorer 7 and higher as well as Mozilla Firefox, but provide the best user experience in the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.   6. The Collaborative Learning Environment® requires JavaScript to be enabled in your browser. If JavaScript is disabled, you can find instructions to enable it on enable-javascript.com.
  7. Courses on the Collaborative Learning Environment® load using Adobe Flash Player. Most courses require Flash Player 8 or higher. You can download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player at Adobe.com.
  8. Some courses on the Collaborative Learning Environment® contain attachment documents to view or fill out outside the course. The documents are in Adobe PDF format. You will need a PDF reader to view them. You can download the latest version of Adobe Reader at Adobe.com.
