ARIZONAUNIVERSITY SYSTEM TRAVELING SCHOLAR PROGRAM

The Traveling Scholars Program of the Arizona University is a cooperative program among the three state universities designed to enable a student to take advantage of programs or special resources available at another state university that are not available at their own institution. Traveling scholars are approved for a period of one term; however, this may be extended by mutual agreement of both institutions. A degree-seeking student, enrolled full-time at one state university (Sponsoring University) may enroll for one or more courses at a second university (Host University) and receive a waiver of admission requirements and application fee at the second university, and a guarantee of acceptance of credits earned by the sponsoring institution at which the student is seeking a degree. The Traveling Scholar form cannot be processed until all fees are paid in full at the institution of full-time enrollment.

To be considered for the Traveling Scholar Program, a student must meet the following qualifications:

Good Standing; meet the minimum requirement for cumulative GPA:

2.5 for undergraduate students

3.0 for graduate students

Full-time enrollment at NAU, ASU, or U of A in the same term that the student will be designated as a traveling scholar:

7 credit hours for students paying resident tuition

12 credit hours for students paying non-resident tuition

Degree-Seeking

Enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program at the sponsoring university

As a traveling scholar, you have two options:

  • You may enroll for a term at one of the other state universities and receive a waiver of admission requirement and the application fee at the second university as well as a guarantee of acceptance of earned credits (C or better) by the sponsoring institution. In this case, you enroll at the host institution and pay fees according to the schedule established at that institution.
  • You may take one or more courses at any one of the other state universities without paying additional fees during any term in which you are enrolled and have paid fees for full-time enrollment (see full-time enrollment definition above) at one of the state universities.
