1. SCHOOL MEAL ORDERING
We would like to remind you to place your online school meal orders by midnight on Sunday 23rd October to ensure your child has a cooked meal for the first week after the school holidays. Please note you will not be required to order a meal for Thursday 15th December as we will be cooking our own Christmas Lunch for the children and payment for this will be direct to the school office (further information to follow in due course).
2. RESPONSIBLE INTERNET FORMS / HOME SCHOOL AGREEMENT
Thank you to so many of you who have returned these forms by the deadline this week. However we do still have some outstanding and these are required on the first day back after the holidays (a Home Contact message was sent to remind the parents who are still required to respond).
We are obliged to annually send home the Responsible Internet Use Forms and Home School Agreement to all children to comply with our school policies and procedures.
3. WALTER POWELL ART EXHIBITION – FRIDAY 21st OCTOBER
All week the children have been enjoying our autumn themed art enrichment week. During the week the children have experienced drawing/ painting with sticks, decorating glass jars, making and eating apple and blackberry crumbles, family trees made out of a variety of materials, making owls, leaf shaped sun catchers and much more. Our Art Exhibition on Friday afternoon gave the parents the opportunity to see what the children have been experiencing this week.
4. TD DAY – MONDAY 31st OCTOBER 2016
As previously notified the school is having an additional TD Day on Monday 31st October as all staff will be attending a meeting with the Diocese of Bristol Academy Trust. Therefore we return to school on Tuesday 1st November.
5. ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL
Everyone has now settled into the new school year and therefore we would like to encourage the children to place their own book bags, lunch boxes and coats etc into school independently. Please can you encourage your child to do this from the start of Term 2.
6. RAGS 2 RICHES COLLECTION
SHASA have organised another Rags 2 Riches 4 Schools Bag collection for Thursday 10th November. Bags were issued in book bags last week, if you would like any additional bags please contact the school office.
This is a great opportunity if you are having a sort out over the next few weeks. It will result in raising money for the school and Pre-school. You can always bring any additional bag donations in bin bags too.
7. HARVEST FESTIVAL
We are delighted to inform you that the Harvest Festival Auction raised £79.60 in total and earlier today a member of staff from the charity Heals visited school to thank the children and also to collect the money and tinned produce that had been donated during last week’s Harvest Festival.
Photographs of the Harvest Festival and the children visiting Heals are on the school website for your information. Thank you for all your support.
8. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – SHOEBOX APPEAL
We have arranged a collection of the Operational Christmas Child Shoe Boxes from school on Tuesday 15th November. If you would like to support this appeal please contact the school office for the appropriate leaflet and shoebox labels. Operation Christmas Child sends shoe boxes filled with small gifts to children in parts of the world that are affected by war and famine. A few years ago, SHASA purchased some shoe boxes from OCC to save parents from raiding Clarks we still have a limited supply of these at school. If you would like one, please contact Miss Johns or Mrs Law in the school office.
The deadline to bring in a filled shoebox is Monday 14th November.
For more information see http:/www.samartitans-purse.org.uk.
We’ve always had an incredible response to this event, with the majority of children bringing in a box.
9. P.E KITS
All P.E Kits are being sent home today for washing! Please ensure all children return to school with complete P.E Kits on the first day back, please include a jumper and tracksuit bottoms for outdoor lessons during the winter months.
