· Total Cash on Hand as of September 6, 2017 is $1,109.15
President’s Report-Deb Apel (given by Sarah Timmer)
· To keep in line with one of the purposes of the Area Council as stated in the bylaws; “to unify and strengthen member PTSO/PTOs,” the board would like to move the annual reports to a SWOT Analysis, so that we can find how to better our PTOs. Please see attached.
· Email meeting discussion topics to Deb & Sarah ahead of time.
Guest Speaker-Jenn Flierl, Executive Director of Communications
MTSD Branding
· Working on a singular brand identity that is meaningful, differentiated, focused, authentic and consistent.
· Steps taken in the brand development which started in 2016 include; employee interviews, communications audit, competitive review, focus groups, online survey and staff training.
· The MTSD Brand Essence: “Pervasive Excellence.”
· The MTSD Target Communication Priorities: current staff and students.
· The MTSD Target Inspiration: “Driven to Succeed.”
· The MTSD Brand Voice: “Confident, Worldly, Caring.”
· The reason that the MTSD exists is to launch our children to a promising future: The Launchpad to Success

Superintendent Report-Matt Joynt
· New staff positions on the administrative team. Eight shifts within the team. Keeping in line with Launchpad to Success striving to retain great people in our district.
· Enrollment Projections 2017-18 is 3716 students district wide. The 3rd Friday of September is when enrollment is counted and reported to the state. A second count is taken in January for the 2nd half of the year. We are on track for remaining stable for enrollment from the 2016-17 to the 2017-18 school year with an additional 24 – 4k students to the district (4k counts as a ½ student to the state since they go only half day).
· State Budget Update: k-12 education provisions of the 2017-19 state budget was approved on August 29th. The state assembly and senate must next approve the state biennial budget. The governor considers it around Sep 22nd. Recommended increase to $200 per pupil increase for 2017-18 and $204 for the 2018-19. The district made budget decisions for $100 and $150 increase per pupil.
· Average ACT Scores MTSD 2017 Graduation Class: 24.9 / Junior Class: 23.8 reflecting 100 % participation of students. The WI average was 20.5 and the National average was 20.8 for the 2016 graduation class.
Board of Education-Kathryn Houpt reported
· Paula Taebel was appointed at a special board meeting on June 5th to replace the open position left by the resignation of Stephanie Clark, which went into effect on June 20th, 2017.
· Approved renewal of the food service contract with Aramark for the 2017-18 SY.
· Approved naming rights for the Homestead main gym: Kohler Credit Union and for the main gym court: John Chekouras.
· The new board and superintendent had a follow up to their team building, the Team of 8 in July.
· Approved the CESA #6 service contract
· Approved the Pk-12 Science Standards
· The Mequon-Thiensville community unanimously approved the school district’s 2017-18 Operational, Debt Service and Community Service Fund Tax Levy.
Other Business
· Lake Shore PTO would like to amend their Bylaws going forward that all funds will be deposited electronically into the PTO bank account, instead of manual signatures. Motion made by Katy Stern and seconded by Lexi Wirm. The motion was approved.

· 9/9/17 is the Color Run, ends at the Taste of Mequon.
