Role: Nursery Deputy Manager

Location: Little Owls Day Nursery, Stanground. Peterborough

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 30+ hours per week between the hours of 7.30am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday 51 weeks of the year.

Job Description

  • Ensure compliance with registration and legislative requirements, including any requirements outlined by Ofsted.
  • Proactively engage with the children in the setting, taking an active role in their care, learning and development while at the nursery and supporting staff in all aspects of their role.
  • Support in rooms as required to ensure compliance with the EYFS and meet the needs of the nursery.
  • Support the Nursery Manager with the management of the nursery and occupancy.
  • Attend and contribute to staff training, parent evenings and open days in own time
  • Plan, prepare and review the curriculum with the team in your room to reflect the EYFS
  • Be capable of working on their own initiative and as part of the management team
  • Ensure that all children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
  • Leading of the baby room with children aged birth to 2 years
  • Lead Practitioner for Safeguarding Children
  • Be able to use competently online journals and planning.

Desirable Needs:

  • Level 3 qualification
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience
  • Upto date Safeguarding and more than the Introduction to Safeguarding.
  • Up to date Paediatric First Aid
  • Knowledge of Foundation Stage curriculum
  • Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of daycare for young children
  • Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of child development and parenting
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and the ability to develop policies/procedures consistent with legislation, best practise and the inspection process for daycare settings
  • Awareness of purposeful planning for children in daycare settings
  • Ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of people
  • Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently
