Thank you for volunteering your time to coach soccer this season! You have the most vital job in this club! Not only are you instrumental in teaching our children about this incredible sport, but you play a very important role in communicating club information to our player families and coordinating team responsibilities. Our coaches are the primary individuals who represent the Arden Park Soccer Club to our community. Thank you for volunteering for these responsibilities and generously giving your time to our kids!

Included in Your Coach Packets
Roster:
You’ll find a contact list for your team players (note that you may have additional players added to your team if your team still has vacancies). **Be sure to contact your team families no later than the first week of August. The sooner the better as families are always anxious to hear from you.

Player 1601 Forms:

Next you will find your parent release forms (1601s). These forms have been e-signed during the registration process, so no manual signatures are required. The 1601 forms must be in your possession at all practices and games. Once you receive your teams player passes, they can be substituted for the paper 1601 forms, as each card will have a copy of the individual players 1601 form on the back of their pass.

Practice Fields:

The 2016 Practice Field Request Form is in this packet and must be filled out tonight. Practices may begin anytime on or after August 1st. The complete practice field schedule will be posted on our website at www.apsoccer.org. Our club is very large and has limited fields which makes assigning all preferred practice times and fields challenging. We will try our best to meet your requests; however, you may not receive your first choice. Please indicate your priority, whether it is a field, day, or time to practice. Note: No practices may be held at Valley Oak on picture days September 9th and 10th.

Seeding Tournament Schedule: (U8 to U14 only):

The Seeding Tournament is coordinated by our River City Youth Soccer League (RCYSL) and will be held on Saturday, August 27th from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Older player divisions have a longer tournament day. U6 does not have a seeding tournament. During the tournament, each team typically plays four (half games) and the results will be used to place teams in a division according to their skill level. Look for an email with more information about team divisions after the seeding tournament. Scheduled games and scores can be viewed through the RCYSL website at www.rivercitysoccerleague.org

Coaches will receive the schedule for the U8 to U14 seeding tournament games at the RCYSL Mandatory Coaches meeting, scheduled for 6:30 pm, Monday, August 22nd at Sierra Oaks Elementary School, 171 Mills Rd.

U16-U19 teams play in the Capital Players league (CPL) and their Mandatory Coaches meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm, Friday, August 5th, at the Orangevale Community Center, 6826 Hazel Ave. Division level play for these teams will be discussed at this meeting.

Coaches Equipment:

Each new team will receive a team ball, cones for practices, scrimmage vests, and a Goalie Jersey as needed. This equipment will be available at the league meeting when seeding schedules are distributed. New Coaches will also receive a coach jersey. For coach jersey requests and equipment questions, please contact our equipment coordinator at .

Picture Day:

Picture Day dates are Wednesday, September 7th and Thursday, September 8th and will be held at Valley Oak playing field on Eastern Ave. Everyone should wear their complete soccer uniform for the picture including shin guards, soccer socks & cleats. Bring Team Banners if you wish. Each player will receive a team photo and individual player photo as part of the registration fee. If players wish, they can order Player Trading cards or other pictures separately by completing the envelope order form included in your coach packet. You will receive your photo day date and time when you receive your seeding schedule. Please arrive at least fifteen (15) minutes earlier than your scheduled picture time! Team photo day schedules will be provided after the RCYSL coach meeting.

Safety:

It is our goal to create a safe recreational experience for all players. Children must wear shin-guards, and cleats with no nubs at the toe (baseball cleats are not permitted). A registered Arden Park Soccer coach must be present during all club-sponsored practices and games. The coach should provide supervision as well as direction to ensure safety. It is the coach’s responsibility to manage all facets of the team including the parents. Do not allow any parent to assist with coaching activities unless they have registered and been fingerprinted through our league. No one under the age of 18 should be involved in setting up or taking down of the nets and children are not permitted to play on or around the goal posts. Coaches should have signed parent consent forms with them at all times which includes an emergency phone number to contact a parent if needed. If a player experiences a serious injury during a club sponsored event, please immediately notify the Club Manager, Fergus Cooke at . You must also fill out and send (by email or US mail) the CYSA Case Report (Accident Report Form 8206), http://calnorth.org/app/uploads/2016/01/Cal-North-Case-Report-Form-8206.pdf within ninety (90) days from the date of the incident.

***Please note: Coaches are not allowed onto the field during the game unless directed to do so by the referee in the instance of an injury. Parents are not allowed on the field at any time. ***

Rain:

If it is raining, games will usually still be played. You can call our soccer line at 481-9888 if you are uncertain whether there will be a game played at an Arden Park Soccer field. The referees also have the ability to cancel a game if they deem that the field is unsafe.

Game Cards:

U8-U19 coaches will be given game cards at the RCYSL Coach Meeting. The home team is always responsible for providing the game cards at the games. Please have the game card completely filled out with your team/player information, field information and correct date and time, before giving it directly to the opposing coach. Once the opposing coach receives the card, they will complete their team/player information and immediately give it to the head field referee in plenty of time before the game begins. Once the game has been completed, the head referee will turn the game card into the club treasurer in order to process payment. Our website www.apsoccer.org will provide additional information and a template to help you with correctly managing the game card.

Reporting Game Results:

At the U6 level, game scores are not recorded. Coaches of U8-U19 players will receive an email immediately after the match is played from Team Sideline. Coaches must report the game results through Team Sideline. Should you have any concerns over the game that you wish to report, you are invited to complete a RCYSL Match Report. This is an adobe acrobat document and can be filled out electronically. It can be accessed through www.rivercitysoccerleague.org under the Downloads section or at www.apsoccer.org under the Coaching/Documents for Coaches tab.
