3. Please see enclosed document for the above presentation.

4. Issues have been raised during the meeting:

  • Medicare and psychological service
  • Discrimination issue about General Psychologist and Clinical College Psychologist. Some members wished for this to be raised with the APS. Chair indicated that he would raise it and provide feedback at the next branch meeting.

5. A member from the meeting mentioned that we could get access some Psychology Journal article through State Library of Victoria ( APS members will need to become a member of the State Library to gain access to e-resources.

6. The Chair invited members to consider ideas about what Gippsland Branch could do for the coming National Psychology Week in November 2011. APS will provide some resources for this event. One suggestion was to do something at Traralgon plaza, or with the local radio station. Please feel free to email me () for your ideas.We can discuss further in the next meeting.

1. Sarah Schluter (Senior Psychologist from Fulham Correctional Centre) presented on:

  • The structure of Offender Development Department at Fulham correctional Centre.
  • Number of programs and type of programs they deliver to the prisoners, which include Alcohol and Other Drugs Program, Cognitive Skill Program, Koori Cognitive Skill Program, and Violence Intervention Program.
  • Individual Counseling
  • Psychological Assessment and Reports
  • Risk of suicide and self harm assessment
  • Suicide intervention and prevention
  • On-going staff training and supervision
  • Introduced the new Motivational Interviewing based Alcohol and Other Drugs program.

1. Peer Consultation in pairs and small groups.

2. Next Branch Meeting: 21st June, 2011.

3. Agenda for next meeting:

  • Discrimination concernsbetween General Psychologist and Clinical College Psychologist and Medicare funding.
  • Ideas about what Gippsland Branch could do for the coming National Psychology Week in November 2011
