Our next Kinderstart session will be May 4th, 2018. There will be no classes for our regular Kindergarten students on that day.If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the school office for assistance.

Kiss N Ride / Parking Lot and Traffic

Please take note of our Signs and Pylons when coming onto the parking lot each day. As you know, this is a continuous safety concern and we ask for your cooperation. Always be conscious of small children while driving in this area especially when busses are off loading the children in the morning or loading in the afternoon. Parents who drop off children in the morning after the busses have left the parking lot are asked to use the Kiss and Ride Service for the safety of all students in the parking lot. If you do park and drop off your children, you must walk them across the parking lot,if not you must use the Kiss and Ride lanes. Our parent volunteers are more than happy to greet you with a smile, open your car door and ensure your child is safe and you do not have to leave your vehicle as you travel to your place of work. If we continue to see that parents are just stopping and letting their children out, we will have to close off a lane so you will have to go through the Kiss and Ride Lane to park. We really appreciate your cooperation in trying to keep our students safe.

If any person who would like to Volunteer 15 minutes in the morning to help with our KISS and RIDE program it would be greatly appreciated.

Recycling

Thank you very much for your support throughout the school year with our recycling program. Our recycling funds go back into the school to help support and enhance student learning. We thank you sincerely for your continued support!

We certainly hope that your child enjoys going outside for physical activity and fresh air at lunch time play. PLEASE ensure that she/he is dressed appropriately so thatthey can fully take advantage of our outdoor play areas.

Lost and Found

We keep a Lost & Found container on the main floor and outside the gymnasium in our school. We invite children and parents to check periodically for items that may be missing. Also, in this regard it is wise to label as many school items as possible. Names or initials should go on sneakers, book bags, lunch bags, jackets, caps, pencil cases and other supplies.

Lifetouch Picture Shoot

OnMonday,April30thwill be havingour Spring photo shoot done by our fabulous Lifetouch photographers.

National Volunteer Week

The week of April 15-21 is National Volunteer week and we will be expressing our appreciation to our wonderful volunteers. Our volunteers help our school community in so many ways that we can’t thank you enough. You are all great

A few Parent Reminders

We remind all parents that if you are dropping off an item/lunch for your child or picking your child up for an appointment to please check in at the office rather than proceed to the classroom. For student /school security we must know who is in the building at all times. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this matter and thank you to the vast majority who follow this request.

There are a number of students who are continuing to arrive late for school each morning. We do ask that students arrive on time for school. Arriving late not only causes a disruptive start to the school day for your child, but also disrupts the learning of all other students in his/her class. We are monitoring lateness and will be contacting you with a formal school letter if lateness is consistently impacting on instructional time.

Once again we are pleased that the number of phone calls from home asking us to notify your child of a change in the dismissal routine is decreasing. We thank you for your support and continue to discuss with your child procedures before they come to school in the morning.

Provincial Assessment Grade 3/6

This year the Provincial Government have decided not to administer any provincial assessments. There will be an alternative to these assessment practices in future years but for this year there will not be any criterion reference testing.

Autism Awareness Day: Inside Out Day

This Friday, April 13th we will be participating in Autism Awareness day. We are asking all of our students to wear their shirts inside out on this day to raise awareness for Autism. We will be educating our students on what Autism may look like through a variety of class activities. We will also be highlighting some of our very own students who are on the Autism Spectrum. We thank you for your tremendous support!
