III: COMMITTEE HEADS:

Scholarship Committee: The scholarship committee lost a member, Peter Tavino has resigned from the Association. The membership consists of David Corcoran, Dave Hermantin, Jim Sansoucy, and John Sima. The committee is seeking to require a more stringent application this year with load calculations, loop design, and loop siting requirements being sought. The group needs to reach out to the tech school instructors to ensure the students have started using the Wrightsoft load calculation program. It was also brought up to find out if the manufacturer WaterFurnace could provide their loop and equipment sizing software.

Geo Home Show: The home show is taking place March 18th. The committee consists of Mark Henderson, John Sima, Dave Corcoran, Jim Sansoucy, and Guy Wanegar. The group has hired Fox Media to be the media partner for the show and it was brought up and voted to send payment to Fox Media in the amount of $5,000.00. The group is actively seeking sponsor partners. We have Evergreen Energy as the solar company, ECS Aeroseal has agreed to partner as well as verbal commitments from Energize CT and the Green Bank.

IV: NEW BUSINESS:

The Association has agreed to hire Leland Brandt to update the website. Leland will be reaching out for info, pictures, and success stories to be adapted to the site.

VI: OLD BUSINESS:

DEEP/CES: We are still anticipating the release of the CES 2017 and had members John Sima, Dave Hermantin, Guy Wanegar provide written and oral comments to the DEEP at the public hearing held Nov. 3rd, 2016. Peter Klint. Of Eversource, provided a very positive report on geothermal heat pumps.

Peter Klint has also reached out for more information on the WaterFurnace Symphony energy monitoring software package. Peter met with Guy Wanegar at his office to review the software and has promised another meeting with other members of his team.

Federal Tax Credit: A brief discussion on how the loss of the tax credit will affect business in 2017. It was agreed that it will impact our business and that the outreach we are doing will need to continue. Rob Sima suggested we try to get builders involved to promote geothermal in upcoming developments, Guy Wanegar suggested we tap existing geo customers to help promote their systems, and Dave Hermantin asked about third party loop ownership or loop leasing as a way to make geo more affordable on a larger scale.

Yale Study on Renewable Thermal Technologies: This group is still active but has quite as of late.

VII: GENERAL NOTES:

The Association stands at 20 members with the addition of John Pouilot, JP Engineering, becoming our latest member and the loss of long time founding member Peter Tavino.
