Nominations for Vice Chair of the ELA/ELD Subject Matter Committee will be accepted and an election conducted.
  1. Establish Goals for 2014/2015 (Information/Action)
Review of Goals for 2013
  1. Provide guidance and support for the 2014 revision of the ELA/ELD Framework.
2. Consult with other content Subject Matter Committees on the revision of the ELA/ELD Framework, with focus on the integration of the reading and writing Literacy Standards in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects.
3. Support the implementation of the California CCSS for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy) and the California English Language Development (CA ELD) standards.
4. Prepare framework draft for presentation to IQC and field review.
Proposed Goals for 2014/2015
  1. Provide guidance and support for the 2014 ELA/ELD Framework, including the final edits and revisions, and publication.
  2. Recommend to the State Board of Education the final draft of the 2014 ELA/ELD Framework.
  3. Provide guidance and support for the implementation of a roll out plan for the 2014 ELA/ELD Framework.
  4. Support the continuing implementation of the CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy and the California ELD standards.
5. Initiate work on the 2015 ELA/ELD Instructional Materials Primary Adoption, including:
a. Recommend Instructional Materials Reviewers and Content Review Experts to the State Board of Education
b. Approvereviewer training materials
b. Facilitate two sessions of reviewer training
