APPRETNICESHIP INFORMATION

Security Systems
Work based learning apprenticeship, studying the 1853-02-03 Knowledge Based Qualification, Functional Skills (if applicable) and achieving the 2882 Competence Based Qualification Level 2 or 3 in Providing Security, Emergency and Alarm Systems.
College attendance is also a requirement, this will be on a day or block release basis depending on the employers preferred college. Rest of time will be spent working at the company.
Visits throughout the year from an Assessor provided by Skills for Security.
Progression to Level 3.
Duration: 18 to 36 months
Security Guarding
Work based learning apprenticeship, studying the Knowledge Based Qualification, Functional Skills (if applicable) and achieving the Competence Based Qualification Level 2 in Providing Security Services.
The Apprenticeship will be delivered within the workplace.
Visits throughout the year from an Assessor provided by Skills for Security
Duration: 12 months
Business & Administration
Work based learning apprenticeship, studying the Knowledge Based Qualification, Functional Skills (if applicable) and achieving the Competence Based Qualification Level 2 or 3 Certificate/Diploma in Business & Administration.
The Apprenticeship will be delivered within the workplace.
Visits throughout the year from an Assessor provided by Skills for Security.
Duration: 12 to 18 months
Customer Service
Work based learning apprenticeship, studying the Knowledge Based Qualification, Functional Skills (if applicable) and achieving the Competence Based Qualification Level 2 or 3 Certificate/Diploma in Customer Service.
The Apprenticeship will be delivered within the workplace.
Visits throughout the year from an Assessor provided by Skills for Security.
Duration: 12 to 18 months
Locksmiths
Work based learning apprenticeship, studying the combined Level 2 Knowledge and Competence based Qualification in Locksmithing, Functional Skills (if applicable).
The Apprenticeship will be delivered with 7 day residential course at the Master Locksmiths Association, split into 5 day residential and a further 2 day residential course. With on and off station working within the workplace.
The Functional Skill requirement will be delivered in one weekly block for Maths and another week block for English where attendance is mandatory (if applicable) at Skills for Security.

Duration: 12 months
Team Leading
Work based learning apprenticeship, studying the Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading Knowledge and the Level 2 CBQ in Team Leading, Functional Skills (if applicable).
The Apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace.
Visits throughout the year from an Assessor provided by Skills for Security.
Duration: 12 months
Electrotechnical
Work based learning Advanced Apprenticeship, studying the combined Knowledge and Competence Level 3 Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment or the combined Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnical Services and Functional Skills (if applicable)
College attendance is also a requirement; this will be on a block release basis. The rest of the time will be spent working at the company.
Visits throughout the year from an Assessor provided by Skills for Security.
Duration: minimum of 42 months

National Minimum Wage

As of 1st October 2013 the current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for young people aged 16-18 and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship is £2.68 per hour, this is the absolute minimum an employer can pay an apprentice however many do pay more. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training and at college as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.)

Working Hours

A young worker (anyone 16 or 17) cannot usually work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week. These hours cannot be averaged over a longer period and you’re not allowed to ignore these restrictions. The hours of work if you are older apprentice is 48 a week. Please note thatApprentices must not beleft alone onsite when undertaking a level 2 qualification.

Process

Once applications are sent to the employer; employers must inform Skills for Security how they would like to proceed with the applicant.

If employers would like to arrange an interview or would like to contact the applicant employers will need to inform Skills for Security.

If employers do not want to proceed with applicants that are sent over the employer must also inform Skills for Security.
