Department committees are appointed by the department head to coordinate important activities that support the department's teaching, research, and extension programs.

Instruction:

Curriculum and Assessment Committee:

The Curriculum and Assessment Committee is generally responsible for the department's undergraduate and graduate curricula in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness. The committee reviews suggested course changes, prerequisites, schedules, classrooms, and teaching assignments and other matters dealing with the department's curricula, and the committee prepares appropriate descriptive materials for the undergraduate bulletin and university catalogue. The committee also coordinates undergraduate advising and assessment activities for the undergraduate and graduate programs. The committee is co-chaired by the Undergraduate Program Coordinator and a representative from the Graduate Recruitment and Admissions Committee or the Graduate Examinations Committee.

Undergraduate Awards and Recruitment Committee

The Undergraduate Awards and Recruitment Committee coordinates the recruitment of undergraduate students and develops appropriate recruitment materials in print and other media. The committee also coordinates fundraising and the distribution of awards for the undergraduate scholarship program.

Graduate Recruitment and Admissions Committee

The Graduate Recruitment and Admissions Committee coordinates the recruitment of graduate students, reviews applications to the graduate program, and recommends students for assistantships. The Graduate Program Coordinator chairs the committee and is a member of the Curriculum and Assessment Committees.

The Graduate Examinations Committee prepares and administers appropriate written examinations for graduate degree candidates.

Publicity Committee

The Publicity Committee seeks opportunities to publicize the department’s achievements through liaison with the Division’s Agricultural Communications Services group and other new media as well as through departmental, division and university magazines, newsletters, and web sites which specifically should include the annual Farmer Stockmen Outlook article and periodical alumni newsletter.

Information Services Committee

The Information Services Committee works with the Information Services Unit to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the use and support of office automation and information technology in the department's teaching, research, and extension programs.

The Facilities Committee monitors the condition and distribution of the department's furnishings and office, classroom, and other space.
