OUTSTANDING EXPORT SALES AS REPORTED AND COMPILED WITH OTHER DATA GIVE A SNAPSHOT VIEW OF THE CURRENT CONTRACTING SCENE. AT ANY GIVEN TIME IN THE COURSE OF A MARKETING YEAR, OUTSTANDING SALES DO NOT BEAR A CONSISTENT RELATIONSHIP TO EVENTUAL EXPORT SHIPMENTS. Export Sales Highlights
This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period June 9-15, 2017.
Wheat: Net sales of 542,900 metric tons were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/2018. The primary destinations were Japan (196,500 MT), Taiwan (94,900 MT), the Philippines (81,000 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations, 5,000 MT switched from Indonesia, and decreases of 3,600 MT), Algeria (59,500 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 2,000 MT), and Thailand (45,500 MT). Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (114,300 MT), Indonesia (5,000 MT), and Belize (1,700 MT). Exports of 717,800 MT were reported to South Korea (119,900 MT), the Philippines (113,000 MT), Algeria (89,500 MT), Japan (73,200 MT), and China (62,600 MT).
Exports for Own Account: The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 19,700 MT is for Italy.
Corn: Net sales of 528,800 MT for 2016/2017 were down 12 percent from the previous week, but up 16 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Japan (249,600 MT, including 57,500 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 13,100 MT), Mexico (82,200 MT, including 25,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 7,300 MT), Israel (55,500 MT, including 50,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), South Korea (52,800 MT, switched from unknown and decreases of 10,700 MT), and Spain (48,500 MT, including 40,000 MT switched from unknown destinations). Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (118,600 MT), Colombia (4,300 MT), and the Dominican Republic (3,700 MT). For 2017/2018, net sales of 124,000 MT were reported for Mexico (120,000 MT) and El Salvador (4,000 MT). Exports of 1,211,500 MT were up 22 percent from the previous week and 6 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (378,100 MT), Japan (336,300 MT), South Korea (127,000 MT), Israel (67,500 MT), and Peru (49,500 MT).
Optional Origin Sales: The current optional origin outstanding balance for 2016/2017 of 122,000 MT is for South Korea (68,000 MT) and unknown destinations (54,000 MT). The current outstanding balance for 2017/2018 of 112,000 MT is for unknown destinations.
Barley: Net sales of 800 MT for 2017/2018 were reported for Taiwan (500 MT) and South Korea (300 MT). Exports of 700 MT were reported to Japan (600 MT) and South Korea (100 MT).
Sorghum: Net sales of 62,100 MT for 2016/2017 were up 2 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average. Increases were for China (59,100 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations) and unknown destinations (3,000 MT). Exports of 63,800 MT were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 2 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were China (59,100 MT), Mexico (4,600 MT), and South Korea (100 MT).
Rice: Net sales of 49,000 MT for 2016/2017 were down 53 percent from the previous week and 15 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Colombia (15,100 MT), Japan (11,000 MT), Haiti (5,000 MT), Mexico (4,600 MT), and El Salvador (3,900 MT). Exports of 36,700 MT were down 60 percent from the previous week and 44 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily Japan (13,800 MT), El Salvador (5,500 MT), Mexico (5,000 MT), Saudi Arabia (2,500 MT), and Haiti (2,100 MT).
Exports for Own Account: Exports of 100 MT to Canada were applied to new or outstanding sales. The current outstanding balance of 100 MT is for Canada.
Soybeans: Net sales of 111,200 MT for 2016/2017 were down 67 percent from the previous week and 72 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Indonesia (72,000 MT, including 63,500 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 6,600 MT), Bangladesh (57,900 MT, including 57,700 MT switched from unknown destinations), Cuba (21,600 MT), Canada (21,200 MT, including decreases of 1,000 MT), and Mexico (11,600 MT). Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (91,200 MT), China (1,200 MT), and Barbados (800 MT). For 2017/2018, net sales of 3,800 MT were reported for Canada (3,300 MT) and Thailand (500 MT). Exports of 296,100 MT were down 39 percent from the previous week and 21 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily Indonesia (80,700 MT), China (66,900 MT), Bangladesh (59,000 MT), Canada (32,700 MT), and Japan (12,300 MT).
Exports for Own Account: The current outstanding balance of 69,900 MT is for Canada.
Soybean Cake and Meal: Net sales of 86,600 MT for 2016/2017 were down 48 percent from the previous week and 31 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (27,900 MT), the Dominican Republic (20,600 MT), Guatemala (12,500 MT, switched from unknown destinations), El Salvador (10,000 MT, including 5,500 MT switched from Guatemala and 4,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Malaysia (9,500 MT). Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (27,700 MT), Japan (600 MT), and Honduras (200 MT). For 2017/2018, net sales of 45,600 MT were reported primarily for Mexico (38,300 MT), Ecuador (7,000 MT), and Canada (300 MT). Exports of 161,800 MT were down 25 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily the Dominican Republic (41,100 MT), Mexico (36,000 MT), Guatemala (16,000 MT), Canada (15,500 MT), and Colombia (13,100 MT).
Soybean Oil: Net sales of 13,300 MT for 2016/2017 were down 56 percent from the previous week and 34 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for South Korea (5,000 MT), Jamaica (3,500 MT), Mexico (2,800 MT), and Venezuela (2,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations). Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (2,500 MT). For 2017/2018, net sales of 4,100 MT were reported for Mexico. Exports of 15,200 MT were down 9 percent from the previous week, but up 17 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily South Korea (11,000 MT), Mexico (3,300 MT), Canada (600 MT), and Honduras (100 MT).
Cotton: Net upland sales of 167,500 RB for 2016/2017 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Vietnam (101,300 RB, including 900 RB switched from Taiwan, 3,800 RB switched from Japan, and decreases of 8,400 RB), India (18,800 RB, including 5,200 RB switched from Taiwan and decreases of 500 RB), Indonesia (17,100 RB, including 2,400 RB switched from Japan), and Mexico (14,900 RB). Reductions were reported for Taiwan (6,300 RB), South Korea (6,200 RB), and Japan (2,400 RB). For 2017/2018, net sales of 426,800 RB were reported primarily for Vietnam (156,900 RB), China (145,200 RB), Indonesia (53,900 RB), and Thailand (21,100 RB). Exports of 259,400 RB were up 11 percent from the previous week, but down 17 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Vietnam (58,300 RB), Turkey (58,200 RB), Indonesia (30,500 RB), China (24,200 RB), and India (21,900 RB). Net sales of Pima totaling 9,500 RB for 2016/2017 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Increases were for India (5,300 RB), China (3,100 RB), and Japan (900 RB). For 2017/2018, net sales of 48,500 RB were reported for China (20,200 RB), India (18,100 RB), Vietnam (6,500 RB), and Egypt (1,800 RB). Exports of 6,900 RB were down 45 percent from the previous week and 38 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily China (2,000 RB), India (1,700 RB), Indonesia (1,000 RB), and Austria (900 RB).
Exports for Own Account: New exports for own account were reported to Vietnam (15,200 RB), Indonesia (7,300 RB), Taiwan (1,100 RB), and Thailand (400 RB). Exports to Vietnam (28,500 RB), Bangladesh (3,300 RB), Taiwan (1,100 RB), India (600 RB), and Vietnam (400 RB) were applied to new or outstanding sales. Decreases were reported for Indonesia (1,900 RB). The current outstanding balance of 110,600 RB is for Indonesia (71,900 RB), Taiwan (14,400 RB), Vietnam (7,200 RB), India (5,500 RB), South Korea (5,100 RB), Bangladesh (3,200 RB), Thailand (1,900 RB), China (900 RB), and Pakistan (500 RB).
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 365,300 pieces reported for 2017 were down 21 percent from the previous week and 32 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales totaling 368,700 pieces were primarily for China (228,300 pieces, including decreases of 5,100 pieces), South Korea (84,800 pieces, including decreases of 1,000 pieces), Mexico (24,400 pieces), Taiwan (16,300 pieces, including decreases of 500 pieces), and Indonesia (9,200 pieces, including decreases of 100 pieces). Reductions were reported for Hong Kong (12,300 pieces). Exports of 439,900 pieces reported for 2017 were down 7 percent from the previous week, but up 15 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides exports of 438,600 pieces were primarily to China (251,900 pieces), South Korea (66,500 pieces), Thailand (47,500 pieces), Mexico (26,100 pieces), and Taiwan (16,000 pieces).
Net sales of 210,800 wet blues for 2017 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 20 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Italy (68,400 unsplit), Taiwan (47,100 unsplit), Thailand (46,400 unsplit), China (16,800 unsplit), and Mexico (12,100 unsplit and 2,000 grain splits). Reductions were reported for Hong Kong (1,600 unsplit). Exports of 121,400 wet blues for 2017 were down 34 percent from the previous week and 30 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (35,900 unsplit and 1,200 grain splits), Italy (32,700 unsplit), Vietnam (16,100 unsplit), Thailand (14,700 unsplit), and Mexico (8,400 grain splits and 1,100 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 332,400 pounds for 2017 were reported for China (208,600 pounds), Taiwan (100,000 pounds), South Korea (19,000 pounds), and Vietnam (4,800 pounds). Exports of 92,400 pounds were down 27 percent from the previous week and 68 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Vietnam (43,800 pounds), China (42,600 pounds), and South Korea (6,000 pounds).
Beef: Net sales of 16,600 MT reported for 2017 were up 96 percent from the previous week and 60 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for South Korea (3,400 MT, including decreases of 400 MT), Japan (3,100 MT, including decreases of 2,900 MT), Hong Kong (3,000 MT, including decrease of 100 MT), Mexico (2,200 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Canada (2,100 MT, including decreases of 100 MT). Reductions were reported for Cote D’Ivoire (100 MT) and Brazil (100 MT). Exports of 13,700 MT were down 5 percent from the previous week, but unchanged from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (4,300 MT), South Korea (3,000 MT), Mexico (1,700 MT), Hong Kong (1,600 MT), and Canada (1,400 MT).
Pork: Net sales of 24,700 MT reported for 2017 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 49 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (21,500 MT), Canada (2,700 MT), Japan (2,300 MT), Taiwan (800 MT), and Colombia (500 MT). Reductions were reported for China (3,400 MT) and Honduras (300 MT). Exports of 19,900 MT were down 5 percent from the previous week and 8 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily Mexico (7,200 MT), Japan (3,200 MT), China (1,800 MT), Canada (1,700 MT), South Korea (1,500 MT).
