Application Form for the 2017Championship

This year will be the thirteenth official Police Sport UK Ladies’ Golf Championship. The event will take placebetween May 14th – 16that the Marriott St Pierre Hotel and Country Club, near Chepstow in Wales. This is a few miles from the M48 old Severn Bridge in to Wales. The Championship Old Golf Course was opened in 1975, and has hosted the Solheim Cup and the Welsh Masters.

Accommodation has been arrangedatthe hotel. There is alternative accommodation in the local area if you wish to make your own arrangements.

The closing date for entries is April 1st. This is to enable us to collate all the information and to supply the final numbers, room shares and menu choices to the hotel within the required time frames.

Registration will be between 1100 and 1330 onSunday 14th May. The tee is reserved for the practice rounds from 1336 to 1524.

TheChampionshipconsists of a 36 hole strokeplay competition comprising 18 holes medal round on Monday 15th Mayand 18 holes medal round onTuesday 16th2017. As well as the scratch championship, there will be a concurrent handicap competition divided into three categories consisting of handicapsupto 9 inclusive, 10 – 18 and 19 - 36. Distance measuring devices are permitted.

All entrants are required to have a current CONGU handicap and to be a member of a golf club. Trolley pullers and caddies are permitted.If your handicap changesafter you submit the original application and before the 1st May, please updateJanet Gosdenwith the details – see the entry form below. Playerswill play in handicap order for the first round of the competition, based on the cut off date. You will need to bring a current handicap certificate to the Championship.

All players are strongly advised to ensure they have adequate golf insurance cover and that all your golf equipment conforms to the R & A Competition Rules (e.g. size of drivers, golf balls etc). See for further details.

The Pro shop have numerouspull golf trolleys for hireat £6 per day and sixelectric trolleys at the rate of £15 per round, whichwill be reserved on a first come-first served basis, bookable in advance with the Pro shop on 01291 635205. Golf Buggies will only be permitted to be used by a player having an appropriate Medical Certificate.The cost to hire a buggy is £30 per round.

The players with the top eight gross scores and those with the top eight net scores will qualify for the teams for the PSUK representative matches in 2018against the Army (scratch), United Kingdom Armed Forces UKAF (scratch) and Royal Navy (handicap). These teams with reserves will be announced at the presentation lunch on Tuesday.

The Championships are intended to be as inclusive as possible, welcomingcompetitors who are eitherserving or retiredpolice officers andpolice staff employees. Full details of the qualification rules may be found on the Police Sport UK website - see

The basic package includestwo nights bed and breakfast,two evening meals, the Tuesday lunch and all the golf.Monday lunch is not included, as some players may opt to go in to Chepstow after their round. The AGM for the section will take place on Monday evening, before dinner.

Any competitors planning to arrive the day before, or to leave the day after, can arrange any extra night’s accommodation at a cost of £109per room per night which includes breakfast, direct with the Hotel, or 01291 635226, quoting our event. Payment for anything other than the packages below is the responsibility of the player concerned, and should be made direct with the hotel.

There are a number of packages available, based on two nights –

1:Full package for aroom for only one person £325

2:2 persons sharing a Twin Room(each person pays)£265

3:Price for non-golfer sharing a twin or double room withtwo dinners and the Tuesday buffet lunch £191

4:Price for golfer that is not staying in the Country Club£131

The break down for these figures is;

Bed and breakfast £67 for a shared room, per person per night for the Sunday/Monday as a special rate for the golfers, sharing,

£97 for a single room and per night for those golfers in a single room

Entry Fee to Nationals £35.00(This covers the costs in organizing the event such as prizes, event programmes etc.)

Two course meal Sunday night (£14.75), two course meal on Monday night (£14.75)

Presentation and buffet lunch Tuesday (£12.50) Meal total £42

Green Fees for three rounds (practice round and two competition rounds)£54

For those intending to travel by air, the nearest airport is Bristol. Collection can be provided for those arriving Sunday morning. If possible, please try booking flights which arrive before 1130, and to book flights whichleave no earlier than 1830hrs on the Tuesday.

IMPORTANT

In the event that a competitor has to withdraw from the competition, a refund of all or part of the monies paid may be considered, but will depend on any refund by the organisations concerned to the Ladies’ Golf Section. No refund will be given if the opportunity to take the practice round is not taken.
