This application form is to be completed by current Trinity College Dublin academic staff who wish to apply for promotion in 2016 to one of the following grades: Professor Of (Personal Chair), Professor In, or Associate Professor. Important Notes
- Applicationsare made by completing the candidate application form and peer reviewer forms available for downloading as word documents onthe University’s automated recruitment system - e-recruitment at Ensure you choose the correct promotion call and note the relevant closing date. After completing the application form, and obtaining the relevant signatures, you should convert it to a PDF before submitting it to e-recruitment, along with your Peer Reviewer Reports, prior to the closing deadline. - Conflicts of interest and signatoriesshould be considered before you submit your application. Members of the Faculty Review Committee, the Personal Chairs Sub-Committee or the Senior Promotions Committee cannot advocate for candidates, and therefore cannot sign any form associated with your application, whether it is the Peer Reviewer form or this application form as Head of Discipline or Head of School. A suitable alternative must be found. The Head of School/Dean will agree an alternate appropriate signatory for your application.

Special Circumstances - The academic promotion process assesses an applicant’s merit, relative to their opportunity to accrue that merit. Applications are welcome from staff on part-time appointments, and those whose career paths have been interrupted or delayed due to significant periods of leave for caring responsibilities or other breaks on equality related grounds. All applications for senior promotions must be accompanied by peer reviewer reports. Peer reviewer reports should be combined and submitted with your application as a PDF document.
Important Notes:
- Candidates should fill their peer reviewer names and details in the e-recruitment system under ‘step 3 – references’. See e-recruitment at
- Peer reviewers are ideally internationally recognized individuals, and can comment on your performance in the areas listed.
- Ensure all peer reviewer signed reports are put together in one PDF file and uploaded as a second document in the e-recruitment system with your Candidate Application Form. They should be saved in the following order – Research, Teaching, Other.
- Conflicts of interest and signatories: Note that peer reviewers cannot be members of the Faculty Review Committee; the Personal Chairs Sub-Committee or the Senior Promotions Committee as these Committee members cannot advocate for candidates.
