Instructions:

1.Operating expenses on scientific research account for 70% of the total expenses (including materials expenses, testing and machining expenses, guest workers’ traveling expenses, conference expenses, transaction fees for publishing/ documenting/ information transmission/ intellectual property and personnel cost and so on).

2.Sharing expenses for using and maintaining the laboratory equipment account for 30% of the total expenses and are limited to use within the laboratory (including purchasing spare parts for the laboratory equipment, purchasing small-size equipment, repairing materials of the equipment, maintenance cost, processing charges and power cost and so on).

(1) Materials Expenses. The consumption cost on all the raw materials and auxiliary materials used in the project.

(2) Testingand Machining Expenses. These refer to the expenses on examining, testing and machining in the project.

(3) Traveling Expenses. The transportation expenses between cities and the traveling expenses within the city (excluding the fuel cost) which are used for conducting scientific experiments (tests), scientific investigations, business researches and academic exchanges. It should be less than 30% of the total expenses.

(4) Conference Expenses. They are expenses on organizing academic discussions, consultation, coordination and other activities during the project.

(5) Transaction Fees for Publishing/ Documenting/ Information Transaction Fees for Publishing/ Documenting/ Information Transmission/ Intellectual Property.These fees are publishing fee, page fee, search fee of document literature, purchase expenditure on books and reference materials, purchase expenditure on special software, patent application and protection fees and so on during the project.

(6) Expert Consulting Fees. These fees are for the temporary hiredconsultant experts to conduct academic guidance during the project.

(7) Service Fees. The service fees pay for the related personnel who have no salary income (such as postgraduates) and temporary hired personnel during the project. The expert consulting fees and service fees should be less than 10% of the total expenses.

(8)The other expenses except expenses mentioned above should be listed and checkedalone.

The project number also should be labeled. Those who choose the self-selected project and conduct the research by self-financing should indicate in the research achievement and papers that “the project is finished in the State Key Laboratory for Geomechanics & Deep Underground Engineering”.

4. The project principal should participate in at least 1 international or domestic academic conference on behalf of State Key Laboratory for Geomechanics & Deep Underground Engineering.

5. Attend the laboratory’s annual report-back meeting of open-ended fund and submit annual progress report, concluding report and other materials.
