IMPORTANT NOTES FOR THE COMPLETION OF THIS APPLICATION
1. Mauerberger Foundation Scholarships are not guaranteed since we are targeting top students. Students are therefore strongly encouraged to apply for other sources of funding, such as CPUT postgraduate bursaries, National Research Foundation, Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarships and Medical Research Council scholarships, etc.
2. Applicants must be South African Citizens.
3. Employees of CPUT are not eligible for Mauerberger Foundation Scholarships.
4. Applicants must be registered for full time 100% research master degree.
5. Payment of bursary will be made once off. However, if bursars do not submit HDC 1.2 within 6 months of registration, CPGS will debit the student account in the 7th month to recover half of the bursary (currently being paid in the second semester). If HDC 1.8 is approved within 2 years a refund will be effected.
6. The Cape Peninsula University of Technology will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against applicants who willfully make false statements or submit false documentation.
7. The Centre for Postgraduate Studies should be kept informed of any change in the information submitted, and reserves the right to reduce or withdraw any award should changed financial circumstances warrant such action (e.g. the award of funding not declared in this application).
8. Candidates who fail to complete the degree for which they are registered in the stipulated time will be liable for a full repayment of the bursary.
9. Graduates of institutions other than CPUT must submit transcripts of their academic records reflecting percentages or grades or arrange to have transcripts forwarded to the Centre for Postgraduate Studies as soon as their final results are available.
10. New students
Applications from first-time applicants will be considered only if the student obtained 75 % in the previous degree.
11. Renewals
Master’s: Tenure for funding for the Master’s degree is two years.
Applications for renewal of any award for the second year will be considered only on submission of a detailed supervisor’s report reflecting satisfactory progress. The report MUST give a detailed account of what progress has been made over the past year and MUST be signed by both the applicant and the supervisor.
12. NB: The degree must be completed within two years.
