Recreational Competition funding:

application form and guide

The Tennis Foundation (TF) is excited to introduce our Recreational Competition Funding guide, supporting the TF’s Network Programme develop disability competition opportunities locally, and help bridge the gap into our regional competition structure.

If successful in your application the TF will support you with a grant up to a maximum of £200 which must be used towards the cost of running a disability specific recreational competition.

What is a recreational competition?

Competition doesn’t have to be a scary concept; it can be adapted to create new sessions or social events that are fun and inclusive. The Tennis Foundation wants to develop recreational competition, creating more opportunities by using our local networks. Get Creative!

SUCCESSES OF 2017:
York Disability Tennis Network hosted a Learning Disability “Handicap Social Competition”; 16 players were ranked and given a score based on their tennis experience. Some players may start on “-1 point” others “+5 points” matches were played to a 10 point tiebreak.
Shrewsbury hosted a “one up-one down” event for their wheelchair players. Doubles pairings were formed of one wheelchair player and one running player. The social competition was a success and was run alongside a Club Day.
Loughborough Tennis Club hosted a Learning Disability “Fun Festival” where over 30 individuals from local schools and community groups enjoyed a day of competition, fun games and food.
Leeds Visually Impaired Match Play day saw 19 players come together for a fun day of competition and socialising.
