CRITERIA AND CONDITIONS FOR
GRANTS FROM THE FOREST INDUSTRIES EDUCATION
FUND

1.The applicant shall have been a member ofConfor, either as a student or other individual member, continuously for one year before becoming eligible for grant aid.
2.Grants can only be for bona fide educational, training or professional development purposes in the field of forestry.
3.Any recipient shall be required to write an article which may be used in the FTN magazine, outlining the studies/activities undertaken for which the grant was made.
4.Any grant awarded shall be applied towards a specific cost within the project.
5.The applicant shall be required to declare other sources of grant. If financial aid has been obtained from another source, then this is likely to be reflected in the award.
6.Recipients may be required to produce evidence to the Trustees that the money given as grant has been spent for the purposes for which it was issued and, if it has not been so spent, the Trustees retain the right to reclaim all or part of the grant money.
7.Grants can only be awarded with prior agreement. No retrospective payments can be made.

Forest Industries Education Fund
Introduction
The Education Fund was set up in 1997 in order to make funds available for discretionary grants to assist with expenses for special educational projects or furthering individual students’ professional development or training in the industry. This fund is also available for skilled members wishing to improve or update themselves by attending suitable training courses.
The Confederation of Forest Industries represents members from all parts of the timber supply chain, including growers, woodlandmanagers, suppliers, contractors, harvesters, primary and secondary processors and students.
