Background: Great Basin College (GBC) has created a “pipeline” to biomedical research programs and careers and the professional schools (medical, dental, physicians assistant, etc.) at the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It is our intention to provide GBC students with the coursework, guidance, and support necessary to successfully apply for programs in these fields at these colleges and other institutions outside of Nevada. To meet that goal, we have obtained a subgrant from the National Institutes of Health Nevada INBRE program ( INBRE stands for theIDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence and is designed to help traditionally underfunded states build biomedical research infrastructure.
