Professional experience

Please enclose a Curriculum Vitae detailing your relevant professional experience. You should

include full details of your career to date, including, for each position you have held, and where applicable, your job title, employer, dates of employment (month and year), brief description of position including level and nature of responsibility and details of projects or initiatives for which you held a lead role or particular responsibility. It is helpful to the Board if you can clarify any gaps or overlaps in your experience (for example, where you held more than one post or were also studying part time).

Personal statement

Please enclose a brief statement in support of your application for Fellowship of a maximum of two sides of A4. Your statement should

1.  introduce and explain the evidence you have enclosed within your portfolio of supporting evidence, highlighting any particular points you would like to bring to the Board’s attention.

2.  comment on how you feel your professional experience, personal qualities and contribution to the profession would fit you for Fellowship of the Landscape Institute

3.  include any other information you wish the Board to take into account in considering your application.

Throughout your personal statement you should seek to address the criteria for Fellowship outlined in section 1 of our information note, Applying for Fellowship of the Landscape Institute, included in your application pack.


Portfolio of supporting evidence

Please enclose a small portfolio or resume of your more important professional work for the Board’s consideration. You should seek to include a range of material which will enable the Board to gain a good understanding of the breadth and quality of your work. Your portfolio should be no larger than A3 in format: please see the accompanying letter for further guidance on items you might wish to include in your portfolio.


Proposers

In support of your application you are asked to nominate two proposers, who have agreed to provide a confidential statement to the Chief Executive with regard to their knowledge of your professional experience and integrity. One of your proposers must be a Fellow of the Landscape Institute; the second proposer may be either a Member or a Fellow. You should not nominate as a proposer any persons with whom you have a close familial, business or employment relationship (such as an employer or employee), or any other current relationship which could give rise to a potential conflict of interest. Letters for you to forward on to your proposers are enclosed in your application pack.

Data protection

The details you give of your name, contact details and the qualifications and designations on which you rely as the basis of you application will be used as the basis of your entry in the List of Members and will be recorded on the Institute’s database. The information you supply on this form will be used for automatic processing of your annual membership and for supplying you with information about the Landscape Institute and the profession. Additionally, your name and grade will be published on the Members Section (password protected) of the Institute’s website unless you indicate below that you do not wish your details to be published.
