About Engineering Ambassadors

The Engineering Ambassadors are representatives of the Whitacre College of Engineering. Typical duties include (but are not limited to) communicating with prospective students, giving tours of the Engineering facilities, speaking to civic groups and to grade school students, assisting with University Days, Job Fairs, and the Distinguished Engineers’ Luncheon, and helping the EOC meet the demand for resume critiques.

Qualifications for Application

  • Currently enrolled in the Whitacre College of Engineering
  • Overall Texas Tech GPA of at least 3.0
  • At the time your application is received, you must have completed at least one long semester as an undergraduate student in the Whitacre College of Engineering.
  • Pre-Engineering majors are not eligible to apply

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline – Friday, March 13that 5 p.m. – Engineering Opportunities Center (EOC)
  • Turn in completed applications to the EOC
  • Do not forget to attach essay and résumé.
  • Turn in ONE recommendation form, signed and sealed by the evaluator, to the Engineering Center. Form must be from a Texas Tech faculty member. Applications without signed and sealed recommendation forms will be discarded.
  • Applicants Accepted for Meet and Greet – Wednesday, March 25thvia email
  • Applicantsthat are selected are invited to join us at the Engineering Ambassador Meet and Greet to meet current Engineering Ambassadors.
  • Meet and Greet – Monday, March 30that 6 p.m. – Location TBA
  • There will be a meet and greet during which candidates will meet existing Ambassadors. Attendance is strongly encouraged.
  • Attire: Business Casual.
  • Interviewees Selected–Friday, April 3rd
  • Interviewees selected from applicants will receive a detailed email with instructions concerning the interview process
  • Interviews – April 8th- 11th tentative – EOC
  • Candidates will be assigned interview times, and selections will be made following completion of all interviews
  • Attire: Business Professional.

Please note that the Engineering Ambassadors typically require a commitment of about 2-6 hours per week (Including 3 hours on-call, bi-weekly meetings, and events). Active participation is required for continued membership.
