Explanatory Note

Application to amend details under a Trader Reference Number (TRN)

European Communities (Common Agricultural Policy) (Scrutiny of Transactions) Regulation 1994 & 1995 Statutory Instrument no. 274 of 1994 as amended by Statutory Instrument no. 218 of 1995.

Please read this Explanatory Note before completing form TRN 2

  1. In accordance with the declaration given in the application for a Trader Reference Number (TRN) a trader must notify the Department of Agriculture & Food, in writing, of any changes to trader details since the allocation of a Trader Reference Number. An application for amendments to trader details recorded under the Trader Reference number (TRN) form (TRN2) must be completed to effect the following changes.

(i)If a company changes its name or trading name and registers that change of name with the Companies Registration Office.

(ii)If a trader’s address changes i.e. either its business/trading address or the address at which commercial records are held.

(iii)If a trader operated under a parent company and is no longer part of that parent company or if the trader becomes part of another company group.

(iv)Change of Bank Account Details.

2. Part A of form TRN 2 must be completed by the trader. The form should be completed in full and forwarded together with the necessary supporting documentation to the relevant Department operating section that is administering the scheme concerned.

The trader must ensure all amendments required to the trader details are provided on form TRN2:

  • The TRN 2 must be signed by the applicant or, where appropriate, the signature and title of the person representing the applicant e.g. a Director or Company Secretary in the case of a registered company. The person concerned should be in a position to act as authorised contact for all correspondence concerning implementation of the Scrutiny Regulations.
  • Where a change of name has occurred the trader must forward a certified copy of the Certificate of change of name issued by the Companies Registration Office or its equivalent if registered outside of Ireland. The Certificate of change of name must be certified to be true copy of the original by a Company Director or Company Secretary.

3The completed TRN 2 form and the required supporting documentation should be returned to the relevant operating section of the Department.

4.If the notification is in order the trader will be informed by the relevant Department operating section that the notified changes have been recorded on the TRN system.
