Notice of Race
1.0Rules1.1The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (rules), the prescriptions of Yachting New Zealand (YNZ), the rules of the Javelin class and this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.
1.2The regatta is designated Category B
All competitors’ advertising must be declared with entry and must not conflict with the interests of the event sponsor.
1.3The YNZ Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.
2.0Alterations of Racing Rules
The Racing Rules will be modified in accordance with rule 86 as follows:

4.0Eligibility and Entry
4.1To be eligible to compete in this event a competitor shall be a member of a club or other organisation affiliated to the National Authority.
4.2 Competitors are required to belong to the New Zealand Javelin Class Owners Association. The Provinces, as laid down by the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, may be represented by one boat and her crew. At least one (1) member of the crew shall have resided in the representative district for three (3) months in a six (6) month period prior to the regattas starting date. Each province is to supply its own Javelin class yacht with current registration certificate and carrying on its mainsail letters depicting its province. Where local Javelin Squadrons exist, the representative crews shall be financial members.
4.3The regatta is open to all boats of the Javelin class complying with class rules, and meeting the eligibility criteria described in 4.2.
4.4Advance entries will be accepted until the normal closing date of December 11, 2000, by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of $50 and mailing it to the Wellington Javelin Yacht Squadron, 8 Clematis Grove, Lower Hutt.
4.5Late entries, accompanied by a late entry fee of $100 may be accepted at the Race Committee’s discretion until December 27.

4.7 Each boat shall submit a valid measurement or rating certificate at registration and in addition measurement checks may be made.
5.0Schedule of Events
5.1Measurement:
Wednesday December 27th, From 8.30am To 11am at Heretaunga Boating Club.
5.2Registration:
Wednesday December 27th, From 8.30am To 11am at Heretaunga Boating Club.
5.3Briefing:
Wednesday December 27th, from 11.15am to 11.30am at Heretaunga Boating Club.
5.4Racing Schedule:
No practice race is scheduled.
The scheduled time of the warning signal for Race 1 is 12.30 hours on Wednesday, December 27th.
Up to 4 races are scheduled per day, some of which may be run back to back.
A total of seven (7) races are scheduled.
No Lay Day is scheduled for this regatta
No race shall start after 1800 hours on Friday, December 29th, 2000.
6.0Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be available Wednesday December 27th from 8.30am at Heretaunga Boating Club.
7.0Racing Area
The races will be held on Wellington Harbour.
8.0Courses to be Sailed
The course will be Windward / Leeward, and an offset mark may be used at the windward mark.
9.0Scoring
9.1The Low-Points Scoring System, rule A2 of the Racing Rules, will apply.
9.2Five (5) races shall be completed to constitute a series. After 5 races are completed, 1 discard will be applied to the total number of races.
10.0Alternative Penalties
10.1The 720degree turns alternative penalty will apply, as described in section 44 of the racing rules of sailing.
11.0Decisions of the Jury
11.1 This regatta is not granted appeal status to Yachting New Zealand
