ENADA ROMA 2009:AT ROME TRADE FAIR

THE APPOINTMENT FOR THE WHOLE GAME WORLD

“Loosen taxes’ vice-like grip on the coin-op sector. One percent less would be enough”

SAPAR chairman Paolo Dalla Pria’s appeal to Italy’s Government before the trade’s most important expo

Rimini, 11th September 2009 – The 37th edition of ENADA Rome, bring held at the Italian capital’s trade fair from Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th October 2009,will be an important opportunity for networking between trade members, trade representatives and Institutions.

New directives compel the coin-op trade to make further investments, such as the compulsory replacement of Comma 6 machines with Comma 6/a units, and open up new prospects in the field of online gaming and games.

This is therefore a lively moment, but also important as far as the resources and professional creativity being fielded are concerned.

This is why Paolo dalla Pria, Chairmen of the SAPAR (Italian Association of operators, manufacturers, importers and exporters of coin-op entertainment machines), intends intensifying precisely from ENADA Rome 2009 direct contacts with exponents of the Public Administration, in an attempt to obtain - in this period of evolution for the sector, and consequent increases in costs for businesses – greater respite on the taxation front.

Dalla Pria states, “It’s true that the gaming and game sector is in good health - in the first nine months of the year we have almost reached the revenue for the whole of 2008. The future could be just as good, thanks to the fact that machines will become increasingly attractive and ensure better performance.Nevertheless, there’s a high fiscal burden on the trade and last year it was increased by 0.6%, reaching a rate of 12.6%, to which a further 0.8% is added for the service of the Monopoly and LicenseesWe need it to be lowered by one percent, because many costs are borne by trade members, particularly in this period in which they’re also compelled to change machines. This is why we intend inviting illustrious exponents of the Government to ENADA Rome, a really important appointment for the entire business, where we shall network on key topics, such as the taxation issue.”

The figures prove the SAPAR chairman’s right. Gaming is a sector of the Italian economy that continues to generate a huge turnover.AAMS data relative to the takings from games in the first seven months of 2009 give a figure of no less than 30,541 million euros, confirming an upward trend of over 12.25% compared with the same period in 2008 (27,209 million euros).

The machine sector accounts for 48.02% of total takings, skill games 4.31% and bingo 2.53%.

Back on the subject of ENADA Rome, without doubt the event will be the largest amusement arcade in Italy for three days, with 30,000 m² of expo space hosting 200 Italian and foreign companies showing and letting visitors try out the latest products as far as traditional machines and remote game machines such as skill games and on line betting are concerned, as well as products and services for the entire trade – from i-gaming to slot machines and video games.

This glittering piazza will not only be an expression of amusement and business, but will also host moments of debate on market news, regarding above all online games, cash games and video lotteries, which are the latest generation of slot machines.

The appointment is set for Halls 1 and 3 at Rome Trade Fair, East entrance.
