STATUS REPORT
1. introduction
The API 17Q Task Group (TG) kicked-off February 8, 2008 to develop a recommend practice that outlines a consistent methodology and documentation process for the qualification of subsea equipment.
2. status
Due to the large task of developing qualification guidelines for subsea equipment, eight (8) separate component task groups have been developed: valves and actuators, trees and chokes, connectors, hydraulic - subsea controls, electrical - subsea controls, coatings and insulation, completion equipment and wellhead equipment.
Since April 2008, nineteen (19) sub committee component grouping meetings have been held to gain alignment on respective test requirements. In addition to sub committee meetings, two (2) 17Q leadership committee meetings have been held: March 10, 2008 (at BP) and May 15, 2008 (at Oil States).
To date, the following tasks have been completed via the 17Q Task Group:
· Committee and participant alignments have been reached regarding overall 17Q methodology (failure mode analysis and product qualification sheets - datasheets).
· Specific components and respective groupings.
· FMA/PQS template forms.
· Individual component PQS forms complete, containing input from various Task Group / Industry subject matter experts.
· Alignment obtained regarding the RP's document outline.
· RP document submitted for review and comments discussed.
· Final RP document submitted for ballot – closing date May 29, 2009.
· RP received 16 Affirmative, 2 Negative and 3 Abstain votes. 6 members did not vote.
· The document has been amended and alignment has been obtained with the Negative voters.
· A Task Group Members meeting was held to ensure that the amendments made to accommodate the Negative voters was acceptable to the Positive and Abstain voters.
· Document is to be posted on the API website to allow voting members a final opportunity to comment on the proposed amendments prior to the document going forward to ballot for publication.
