1. INTRODUCTION
The joint API-ISO Flexible Pipe Task Group (FPTG) consists of Subject Matter Experts (SME) representing the flexible pipe community worldwide. The FPTG assists in addressing technical comments arising from revisions and updates of the following flexible pipe standards:
ISO 13628-11: Flexible pipe systems for subsea and marine applications, and
API RP 17B, Recommended practice for flexible pipe
ISO 13628-2: Unbonded flexible pipe systems for subsea and marine applications, and
API 17J, Specification for Unbonded Flexible Pipe
ISO 13628-10: Bonded flexible pipe, and
API 17K, Specification for Bonded Flexible Pipe
Ongoing work
ISO 13628-16 / API 17L1, Specification for flexible pipe ancillary equipment
ISO 13628-17: API 17L2, Recommended practice for flexible pipe ancillary equipment
This report describes the status of the ongoing flexible pipe standardization work, including the status on the Flexible Pipe Technology JIP, whose purpose is the next revision of the ISO 13628-2/-11 and API 17 J/B standards.

Status of JIP initiative for the update of API 17TR2 “The Ageing of PA-11 in Flexible Pipes”
· The JIP is yet to be kicked off. There is sufficient number of participants (8+). The JIP coordinator is Morten Eriksen of GL Noble Denton, Norway.
· The Scope Of Work is to update PA11, and include PA12. The SOW is to be finalized during June-20th,2011 meeting in Paris (the first SOW meeting was held on Sep-24, 2010 in Oslo).
· K. Doynov will submit SRRR form for revision to 17TR2, after the JIP has been kicked-off.
Status of ISO 13628-16 / API 17L1, and ISO 13628-17: API 17L2
· DIS ballot was closed on September-3, 2010, with 13 positive and 2 abstained P Member votes out of 15.
· Some comments are highly technical in nature and their resolution requires both clarification with the manufacturing company that originated them, and MCS involvement in providing historic background (Note: MCS was the AE JIP manager originating the draft -16 and -17 documents).
· The process set up for addressing the DIS comments in 4Q2010, was for MCS to:
o Assist with background info,
o Collect input from wider range of SMEs and countries, than the group of 7 SMEs from 7 countries involved at the CD stage, and
o Provide website and webforum to all companies and SMEs interested in contributing to the comments resolution.
· K. Doynov and MCS kicked-off the FPTG work of addressing the DIS stage comments in January 2011 with a target completion in 1H2011.
· Work has been delayed due to unanticipated technical difficulties associated with the merger between JP Kenny and MCS that led to technical problems with MCS setting up the website and webforum, which as of today are still not up and running.
· As of June-3rd, all 17L2/-17 comments have been addressed, and 54 out of 64 DIS comments on 17L1/-16 have been addressed.
· Teleconference with UK manufacturer, MCS and SMEs is planned for mid July to address the 10 remaining DIS comments on 17L1/-16.
· The final revisions of 17L1/-16 and 17L2/-17 are planned for submission to API & ISO in August 2011.
Status of Flexible Pipe Technology JIP for 17J/-2 and 17B/-11 Revision
· The close out JIP meeting was held in September 2010. Participation: 19 manufacturers, operators, service companies, country regulators and standardization bodies – a very broad Industry representation worldwide.
· 17J/-2 was planned for submission to API & ISO in 1Q2011, however 2Q2011 discussions required another revision. This final revision is to be submitted to API & ISO during the week of June-6, 2011.
· 17B/-11 is expected to be completed in 2Q2011 - composite materials and, qualification testing are the two chapters to be completed by end of June. Final JIP participants review of these two chapters is planned for July. The final revision is to be submitted to API & ISO in August 2011.
