AP Study Schedule

Follow the Green Calendar if you are starting with 7 weeks to go, are pacing yourself and still want to have a social life and sleep.

Follow the Orange Calendar if you are lagging, have 5 weeks to go, but still want to be well prepared and are willing to give up some of your nights/weekends.

If you are down to 2 weeks, do everything you possible can on the list. You need to cancel all social events and hole up for the next two and a half weeks. Seriously. Choose the types of things that work for you and do as many as you can.

*Also, for those of you in AP Bio or AP Calc, you need to start early and pace yourself. Bio and History are both content heavy

*This is a general calendar for all years and doesn’t account for the difference in where spring break falls. You will need to make a few adjustments.

Make a big calendar of everything you have going on. Dance? Plays? Sports? Family obligatons? Put it on a calendar so you know what you are up against.

Study Ideas:

1. Create a timeline of key events and Presidents (I have links to timelines already done, but it often helps students to make their own as organizing it in your head helps your brain put it in order). At LEAST, study the timeline online or in the book.

2. Create a political/social/economic chart Be sure to pay special attention to women and minorities (There are the charts at the front of each unit in the book, but again, doing it yourself helps your brain remember it)

3. After each chapter, take the practice quizzes online at history teacher.net

4. Apps, flash cards- either your own or some companies make great flash cards. At the bottom of Historyteacher.net, she has lots of review links. Check them out! There are also quite a few good apps @$5.

5. Take a full length practice test- time yourself. There is one posted online. There is one at the back of your RB. Figure out why the questions you got wrong are wrong. Look them up. If there was a section you flat out don’t understand, go back and re-read it.

6. DBQ Practice: Review DBQ Strategies- In your review book- Look at all the DBQ Guides from the table of contents (after Ch 1, 4, 8, 12, 13, 17) Practice some DBQ/FRQ Prompts. Pull up the sample prompts Power points and brainstorm how you would answer the questions

7. Watch Mr Pate/Crash course- especially if you are an auditory learner. If you have time, watch all of them. Or, if you are short on time, choose ones you don’t know. Also, check for podcasts “PHS APUSH” or “HipHughes” you tube videos

8. Look over the 19 pg. cram packet under secret stuff.

*Read the 70 pg Giant Review under Secret Stuff.

*Review the Study Guide under Secret Stuff- Print this out and take it with you everywhere

*Look at the Timeline Cram Packet

The more you procrastinate, the less you will have time to do well. In past years, the number one predictor of being successful on the exam (other than doing what you need to all year-but too late for that) is to reread the review book and follow a consistent study plan.

Before you start, take a practice test. It will give you a baseline.

Print out the Study Guide under secretstuff. Look over the information corresponding to the chapters you are reading.

This will get you through the Review Book in time for all your MC finals and pretty close to your DBQ final. It is also the most sane.
