Hello future AP European History superstar! This paper will break down the AP Euro summer work assignment. Your task is to complete the assignment and have it ready for submission day 1 of the school year in the Fall. We will test on this material the first week of class, so be ready!!!

Intention:

The intent of the work is to build a foundation of knowledge that will allow you to more fully understand the background of the High Renaissance. The AP European History course stretches from 1450 AD to current. However, the events that preceded 1450 are vital to understanding society in 1450. As such, you will conduct a study of key events prior to our starting point.

Key events include:

  1. Climate Change
  2. The Black Death
  3. The Hundred Years War
  4. The Babylonian Captivity of the Catholic Church, also known as the Avignon Papacy
  5. The Great Schism of the Western Catholic Church
  6. Social and Cultural Structure of European Society

Task:

You will read the first chapter of our textbook, Chapter 11. You will then complete the attached worksheet. You must be thorough. The more detail, the better off you will be!

Due Date:

This is due day one of the class. It is a long assignment, so don’t procrastinate!!! I suggest you break it up into chunks and work through it a little at a time. Small bites, if you will. Before the first day of school, look over all your answers so it is fresh in your mind. We will discuss the material the first couple days of class and have a test over the material at the end of the first week of class!
